Gwin's Lodge has lots of outdoor charm. ...Our cabin had wood on the ceiling, wood on the walls, and wood on the floor.
The Russian campgrounds are nearby for camping, hiking and fishing.
Two brothers roadhouse, a nearby restaurant and bar has excellent barbecue.

The cabin was not clean. Grungy looking carpet, hadn’t been dusted in a very long time; microwave was nasty; my husband was afraid to use shower.
On the positive side, the food in the restaurant was very good!

Thank you. The carpets should get replaced with flooring later this year.

My family and I rented a cabin while we were on guided fishing trips. The cabin itself was fine. What was NOT fine was there was a small cabin attached to ours. The individual living there cleaned the cabins between rentals. There was a door in one of the bedrooms leading into his cabin. He was constantly smoking marijuana and the smell filled our cabin. Another room also shared a wall and you could see light from his room. It was impossible to sleep in the room next to his while his TV was blaring. We will never stay here again!!!!

Sorry this was a visitor of an employee. It was addressed and the staff member no longer works here but he is a great person. Always let management know before giving bad reviews. Shame on "yelpers" trying to harm small American business without allowing problems encountered to be rectified. I am sure you don't realize how personal small business USA takes their job. They and I want customers to be happy... so sorry that happened.

The cabin location is perfect! You are paying for the location so don't expect too much from the cabin. We stayed in the cedar chalet. I'll list the pros and cons to give you an idea of my experience.

Pros:
The towels are clean.
It has a little cook top and fridge.
It has pots, pans, plates, cups, silverware, sponge, soap, ect. Everything you would need to cook. (no oven though)

Cons:
Spider webs everywhere.
It is tiny!! I had to stick my leg out of the shower to shave it. We had to put our clothing bag on the bottom bunk to keep from tripping over it. Not sure how you would fit more people or bags into the room.

Wasn't really a problem for us but keep in-mind there is no TV.

Thank you. Cooper Landing is the gem of the Kenai and real estate is in very short supply! The cabins are much bigger than some of the tiny homes on TV. I like them a lot more than a hotel room and cost is very low making it a superior value over a hotel room in Anchorage. Plus the central Kenai Peninsula location again is super. You can stay here a long time and not have to move. You can drive to Homer and Seward a day here or there and still come back to your home base easily where you are comfortable. Some guests stay for weeks.

Arrived July 23rd and departed July 31st. From start to finish a memorable trip. The cabin (#6) was 5 star for "rustic" and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Full kitchen made it easy to cook meals. Extra blankets and towels quickly provided when requested.

GREAT access to Kenai River and especially the Ferry and Russian River campground parking areas.

My only recommendation would be to add hooks inside the cabin to dry clothes but we made due and certainly should not be viewed as a complaint.

On site restaurant food was exceptional and loved the large portions. Our gran son raved about the Reindeer sausage and wanted to know where he could get some in Los Angeles. LOL

They also handles a booking with the Kenai Cache Outfitters for a Lower Kenai river float trip and we caught 15 sockeyes and a 30 "+ rainbow (Catch & Release)

Highly recommend this Lodge for families and those wishing to fish or sightseeing.
