We shared a two-bedroom cabin with another couple. We made good use of the kitchenette. The hosts were wonderful people. We enjoyed hearing about their history with the land that they homesteaded and built. It makes you really appreciate all they did to develop the property

Room Tip: Some rooms have kitchens and others do not. Choose according to your need.

We stayed at the cabin #6. It is a two bedroom cabin with a living room and a kitchen. You have everything you may need but don't expect a TV set or wifi (not that you need them there). The cabins is very clean, the beds are good, the shower is hot and you will enjoy the breakfast that Joyce offers every morning. Just the banana bread that she makes from scratch is worth going there.
To get to Denali park you need to drive 18 miles. They were working on the road when we were there and it created a problem for us: the drive to and from park took 45 min.
Joyce is very friendly and answers all you questions. She sent us an email with tips and suggestions which was very useful.

After reading reviews in Tripadvisor, this was actually not my first choice of where to stay in Healy, but I feel very lucky that my first choice was not available, as this actually suited us much better! The cabins are built with a wonderful view (through trees) of mountains and a river, and really is a nice secluded getaway in the middle of nature. However, still with all the comforts of home like a great basic bathroom, a nice kitchen in #5 (microwave, fridge, and coffee maker in the others), and of course heaters for when it gets cold. I especially loved being able to sit on the porch before sunset (10pm-11:30pm) and enjoy the nice view (bring mosquito coils to keep them away, they worked like a charm). Each cabin is far enough from the others that you still have your privacy. The other place I wanted to stay in Healy, Earthsong Lodge, might have been neat to stay at to see the dogs, but the cabins were all laid in in grid-like formation on a clearing in a flat area of town, so without the "middle of nature" feel that we got at Ridgetop.

There were 5 of us and since #5 was unavailable the first day, we stayed in #2 and #3 the first night, then while we were in Denali all day, Joyce graciously moved our suitcases and cooler to #5. Since there was no kitchen, we used the grill and microwave to prepare out dinner the first night. There are 2 grills in a nice covered picnic area across from the middle cabins, though it was a little breezy, so we opted to eat inside. All the cabins are extremely well made, built by the owners, and all with nice porches facing the mountain view. The beds were comfortable, the cabins and bathrooms were clean and well maintained, and the hosts were friendly and gracious. Oh, also, there is free wifi in the main lobby/check-in/breakfast room.

As others have mentioned, buy your groceries in Anchorage along with a cheap cooler. You don't need blue ice, just fill a couple gallon bags or plastic bags with ice and put the ice on top (heat rises and ice on top keeps everything cooler below apparently). Even after 9 hours of driving, stopping for lunch, and stopping to see the Denali dog sled demo, most of the ice had not yet melted...it's Alaska so not 80 degrees outside. Also, maybe bring some plates (they have them in #5, but not #2 or #3...though possibly you could get some on request. Joyce loaned us a can opener the first night when we did not have a kitchen).

Room Tip: They are all great. Pick #5 or #6 if you need a kitchenette or 2 bedrooms. #1-4 have microwave, fr...

This is at mile marker 253.3 on Parks Highway going from Denali to Fairbanks. (Denali NP is at mm 237). There is a small sign on both sides of the highway right before the entrance. It’s about a mile from the entrance to the cabins driving up the ridge on gravel. They have 6 cabins, all situated in the woods. We had cabin 5 which is the small size cabin. It has a queen size bed and a twin size bed. The owner Joyce also gave us a sleeping bag and a floor mat since there are 4 of us. The cabin is clean and well maintained, nice hot shower. Nothing fancy, but serves all the basic needs. There are also outdoor grills under a covered area. Free continental breakfast includes muffin, yogurt, hot and cold cereal, coffee, tea, milk and juice. Joyce is very friendly and helpful. It was perfect for the last night of our wonderful Alaska trip. Joyce is looking to sell the place, hope the next owner keeps it up.

Anyone who comes to Alaska expecting to find luxurious accommodations should really rethink whether or not Alaska is the right place for you to visit. However, if you are fine with comfortable, clean facilities with some surprising conveniences, this is the place for you. My daughter and I were traveling with another couple, so finding a place with two bedrooms (one queen and two double beds), was no small task! We stayed in Cabin #5 and John and Joyce are wonderful hosts! After slightly more than a week with nothing but small, standup showers, it was SO nice to have a full sized bathroom with a full-sized bathtub! I loved the location of these cabins, and am sorry to see the property up for sale. I hope whoever purchases the property continues to maintain it and offer it as a respite for the nature lovers who come to Denali to enjoy a simpler, less fabricated lifestyle.
