I took the Eco Sapa VIP van when returning from Sapa to Hanoi. It was quite impressive and the service is great. I like how the driver is always all smiles, friendly and helpful. This means a lot when you are all alone overseas!
Another plus point is how they are VERY responsive via email and always reply almost immediately. I made my booking and payment online.
Was told to wait for pick up at 8am but the van was late. Wanted to give them a call but my hotel receptionist said Eco Sapa is usually always late and will arrive at around 8.30am. I also sent them an email to inform them in case they forgot about me but received a response almost immediately, about how the van was on its way. This was very reassuring for a worrywart like me.
Sure enough, the van came at 8.30am and I was pointed to my seat while the driver helped with my luggage. I got a seat in the first row, behind the driver, and on the right. Perfect for me.
I was also given a small welcome pack consisting of bottled water, a snack and a wet wipe. We made two rest stops and at the final one, we were given a drink coupon to redeem a free drink. I was quite impressed with the beverage options we had as I thought it would be just coffee or tea.
Although the Eco Sapa VIP van does not have as much legroom as the Sapa Express (which I took from Hanoi to Sapa), it has wifi on board that I used for Netflix, as well as a charging port and bottle/cup holder at my seat.
We had reached the Old Quarter when we had a run-in with some policemen. Not sure what happened but we had to wait in the van for the driver for 20 minutes. I did not mind the delay as I personally have a lot of time in my itinerary. Was dropped off steps from my hotel shortly afterwards.
Despite the run-in, the driver gave me a warm smile and passed me my luggage, which I appreciate. The ride of close to 6 hours was very safe and smooth too, thanks to him.
The price difference between Eco Sapa and Sapa Express was about SG$15 / US$11 for me. I did not mind paying more for Eco Sapa because of the direct pick-up and drop-off (not fond of walking narrow and muddy streets with my luggage), in addition to the extra luxuries.
Thanks for a memorable journey.
