iI think these ware apartment many many years ago and they have been converted. The place was clean but had a bit of the old must smell. I would stay there again, everything in Busbee is old but that is why we go.

Stayed here in mid February and absolutely loved the place! Huge rooms at more like an apartment than a hotel. Full kitchen, large living room, separate dining area, and plenty of dishes! It's almost too much for a nights stay. Would love to spend a week in this place and enjoy the roof top balcony more! Really made up for my miserable experience with The Copper Queen! Most definitely coming back!

Room Tip: Parking is always an issue in Bisbee, this place has a parking lot across the street!

This is the second time we've stayed at Gym Club for Sidepony Express. The firs ttime we did room 106 which was great... but hard to find. This time we decided on 104 simply because it had 2 bathrooms. You MUST be able to climb stairs in order to enjoy this room... we counted and found out we had 32 stairs inside the suite!!! It was crazy. The stairs down to the two rooms were by far the worst as far as feeling like you would fall but the others weren't too bad. The kitchen was a little cramped but worked nicely. I felt like it was stocked a little better than our previous suite so that was nice... lots of cooking supplies! This hotel just simply has a great location, it is so easy to get to Brewery ave. We can't wait to come back next year for Sidepony and stay at Gym Club!

We selected Gym Club Suites as an alternative to the B&B we needed to leave as it was too far out of town. Several of the locals recommended this establishment. We had a two bedroom, one bath with full kitchen and a large outdoor deck with lovely views. The room was clean enough, I suppose. But the furniture could use some deep cleaning, as could the carpet. Kitchen and bathroom were clean, and bed linens were crisp and white. Pillows were horrible and need to be replaced. Patio furniture looked as though it came from a garage sale, but at least we had a table and chairs to sit on outside. What was interesting was the complete lack of decor or wall art, especially as Bisbee is supposed to be an artists colony of sorts. My biggest concern was that I left covered in flea bites on my ankles and feet....not sure if this was from the patio outside or if the establishment is pet friendly and there was a dog or cat in the room ahead of us. Maybe it was just the town in general- who knows. Even wth all that, we loved the size of the room and the location was perfect!

Room Tip: Try for the rooms with the big patio/decks with views.

When I was a kid, I spent many happy hours learning to swim in this building. After the mining company left in the late 70s, a developer bought it and turned it into condos. It would be a difficult place to live, but it's a great place to spend a few nights. The suites are large and furnished with plenty of beds and futons, some have multiple bathrooms, and some have decks with nice views of the Gulch and the Canyon. It's all very clean, and while the decor and appliances are 80's retro, the apartments are comfortable and spacious.

The positives: The location is great. It's an easy walk uptown or to Brewery Gulch, and unless it's a very busy weekend in Bisbee, there's plenty of parking in the public lot across the street. The views from the decks are wonderful -- room 106 has a view of B Hill and the Gulch and is a perfect place for a glass of wine while the moon rises. There's wifi and a large screen TV for the time you're bored with gallery-hopping or taking in the night life.

The negatives: The original building was a number of huge spaces over several floors (a basketball gym, swimming pool, locker rooms) and the developers crammed as many apartments in as they possibly could. So the layout is like a rabbit warren and the charm of the old interior is gone. The place needs some maintenance -- the elevator doesn't stop on the second floor on the way up, so you have to go up to three and come back down, or else just take the stairs. Some of the planks on the deck have significant dry rot so you have to be careful where you put your chair. It can be noisy -- on a lazy Sunday morning it sounded like a herd of elephants was tap-dancing above us. And some of the spaces are located under stairs, so you can hear people walking up and down. There's no daily housekeeping and a lack of brooms or vacuums so it's hard to keep the floors clean.

All that being said, it's still a great value and a clean, comfortable, convenient place to spend a long Bisbee weekend. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
