My wife and I rented a pontoon from the Marina and explored the winding canyons and basin of the Colorado River. We packed a picnic lunch and enjoyed the watching the wildlife. Very relaxing and serene.

45 minutes from Vegas is this nice beach, we rented a kayak for 2 hours at $40 and staff help with routes etc, there's a issue with water at moment with green stuff growing everywhere so swimming is strongly advised against
Views from water are fantastic and plenty of parking
$20 to enter park
Let me start with how friendly and helpful the staff is at the marina store, they are the best! They are wonderful when you check in early for boat rental and still have a smile and great attitude when you check out. And the marina staff are first rate that help you and guide you with whatever you are renting.
The pontoon boats are very nice and spotless. I wish they offered a little more shade, so don’t forget your hat and lots of sunscreen. We also have rented a canoe and it was very good as well. We will try a kayak next.
This is also one gorgeous part of the Colorado River, and the views spectacular. We canoed to Emerald Cave and back, stopping at many small beaches so we could cool off in the very cold water, but it was 110 out and you have to wear a vest while canoeing, so it’s quite refreshing! With the pontoon boat, we went to the other side of the river and went all the way to Nelson, where we got to see the cliff divers and then hung out in a cove where we saw owls sitting in cutouts in the rocks. Really cool, and we also saw Big Horn sheep on our canoeing expedition, so keep yours peeled for the wildlife!
Taking a boat out on this area of the river is always a pleasure, and it’s never super crowded, even on a Saturday or holiday weekend, but reservations are a must.
Thank you Willow Beach Marina and all the staff for making this a fabulous destination from the Las Vegas Valley (or from anywhere). A true getaway from the hustle and bustle of our daily lives.
I'm writing this from my tent site at WB campground. +'s: very quiet, new facility, showers, WiFi (slow), access water via 1/4mile drive, fun gamble quail. Now for the -'s: no shade (this is real desert camping), not much to do apart from the river (no hiking that we found, but the hatchery is close and worth a quick look), no cell signal, not close to anything other than the river. Next time we'll take a boat out and enjoy the river.
We turned up here to hire some kayaks but ended up with a motor cruiser. As the weather hadn't been that great, there was hardly anyone else on the river. Having a stretch of the Colorado River pretty much to ourselves was an amazing experience. The scenery was spectacular. We moored up on a small sandy beach for a swim. Was a bit concerned about how we'd manage with the boat as hadn't driven one before, but it was straightforward to drive and brilliant fun. My daughter's title for this review sums our day up perfectly. As she also said it brings the family together and is very enjoyable.
South of Hoover Dam, there is a turnoff to Lake Mead National Recreation Area that includes Willow Beach. Camping and Beach access to the river. Refreshing on a hot summer day!
