Owner description: A creative shopping experience built around a 19th Century trading store. It is a landmark destination in the Garden Route with shops, studios, and workshops showcasing the extraordinary and inspiring connection between ancient crafts, innovative small-scale manufacturing and contemporary design. The Village is an unexpected and fascinating architectural mix of wonderful gardens and a unique group of individual creators. Old Nick Village is also the home of Mungo and houses its flagship store and the Mungo Mill which is open to the public.

This place has a beautiful plant life. It offers a variety of shops unique to South Africa. It has great facilities for children to play and a beautiful coffee shop with lovely food.

We (by chance) decided to drive here to have a look. The weekly market (on a Wednesday) was there. Really good assortment of food stores, keenly priced goodies and friendly people. We found the Village much improved since our last visit a couple of years ago.

Great architecture!

The Old Nick complex has never really appealed to me before, but the Mungo Mill that has recently been built on the property is incredible to see and visit. It led to me buying a few beautiful items at the Mungo store, but I feel happy supporting the local production, and beautiful things made by local people. It's also a clearly ethical factory workspace and one can see all the beautiful old looms and sewing machines being operated by employees. Go on a Wednesday to catch the local market that sells fresh foods and baked goods, as well as a number of other surprising and lovely locally produced objects.

Thank Nicola K

We stopped here recently and enjoyed very good coffee and freshly baked cakes at The Roost coffee shop. Sit at a table outside to enjoy the local vibe. Service is pleasant and efficient. Explore the craft stores nearby; there are some lovely handwoven goods on offer.
