If you are in PE, take this township tour. Our guide, Gugu, was fantastic!

We were picked up from our hotel in the morning at 9am and dropped back off about 3 1/2 hours later in time for lunch. We were able to meet residents who currently live in the townships and ask them questions.

It was very powerful to hear Gugu's personal stories. She was very open and really cares about showing others this aspect of South African lives. Gugu's english is very good, and our driver, Gershom, was able to smoothly navigate the traffic.

This is a must do. Even for those like me who already knew about the history of townships, I can tell you this: Knowing about it from school it is NOT the same as seeing it first hand with a guide from the townships. A tour like this can really put things into perspective. Definitely a must do.

We chosen to do a horse ride very last minute and mosaic were excellent at organising it all the day before. We had an excellent time but we were a bit gutted when we found out the actual horse riding company they use only charge R450 pp for the 2- 2 1/2 ride, less than half of what we were charged for the riding session (R950 which did include transport to but it wasn't very far).

One of my favorite full day tours; Addo / SchotiaOur guide, Sean arrived on time. He gave us a briefing of our day and we were off. First stop was Addo Elephant National Park. There had been some rain and the animals were busy celebrating. Great viewings. Lunch was included at the Cattle Baron at Main Rest Camp. A wonderful gift shop is there as well. With a quick trip out we arrived at Schotia Game Reserve. We checked in and was served coffee, tea and biscuits. We boarded open vehicles and set off for animal viewing. Our driver kept us well informed of animal behaviors and we enjoyed the information. We had another coffee, tea, snack break and continued on to see lions. As the sun was setting we headed to dinner at a boma. Campfires under the stars. Beer and wine was served. Full meal cooked over open fires with dessert. Wonderful. Lots of camaraderie sitting around large tables. After dinner we loaded up again and did a night drive with spot lights while heading back to entrance of the reserve. Great full day adventure. Don't pass this one up. Tops on my list.

We booked a day trip to Addo Elephant Park and Schotia Tooth and Claw. We were collected from our hotel by Malcolm at the time we expected. He introduced
himself, put us at ease and explained the plan for the day, asked what we would like to see most and explained what we could experience. Malcolm was a brilliant source of information. He made the day memorable with his explanations, experiences, discussion and advice. The Land Rover was comfortable, water provided and Biltong! I would recommend asking for him for the tour. Mosaic Tours were brilliant to deal with. They answered emails quickly, happily offered advice and our questions whilst we were still in the UK and ensured we had booked the perfect tour for us. They sent a reminder email the day before our tour and will ring you at your destination hotel if you prefer. This was a perfect day and we would highly recommend Mosaic Tours and Malcolm.

Although some of the revenue might be donated to the township people, this tour is seriously overpriced. The tour took 2,5 hours and we have been inside a jeep for most of the time. The only main stop was at a local pottery, we stopped there for almost 45 mins for commercial reasons only. They should either donate 75% to the local people or add more sightseeing in the tour to justify the amount paid. As far as i have experienced, they are making money over the back of the township people.
