Been there twice now and my wife and I have had the seafood platter, lamb curry, rump steak and pork belly. All excellent, I particularly enjoyed with the snail soup, done in a different way and very tender. You won't go wrong.

We were welcomed by a hound in the parking lot. Intrigued by the beautiful décor, we decided to sit for a beer and then opted for breakfast. Seating is provided inside or outside. On a Saturday morning the venue quickly filled up, providing a festive atmosphere. The owner was present and spoke to all the patrons and was jovial and hospitable. Besides ‘Die Ratels’ craft beer, we ordered pork belly and breakfasts. Mine was a jaffel (toasted bread in a jaffel pan) with a breakfast filling. All the dishes were attractively presented, were tasty and the portions were ample.
In general we have had an outstanding experience.
Ideal for a gourmet breakfast, brunch or lunch.

When dining at The Hound, it is like an extension of your own dining room. You feel at home with good food and you don't have to know your bank manager. Furthermore, invite Mark, the host, to elaborate on some of his other projects and his car!

We had lunch at the Hound on one of the hottest days of January - it was a real oasis!
Great fish and chips, decent bunny, cold drinks.... Happiness.

Salad with smoked salmon was okish....not brilliant but middle of the road. Looked very pretty though. I think the variety of lettuces could perhaps be improved with a pop of rocket / avo/ pesto or something to jazz it up a bit. Also, not much salmon to be had. Fish and chips were great though. Service quite slow but we weren't in a hurry, so it was fine for a Sunday. A lovely spot for lunch, not far from Jhb.

Thanks for your constructive suggestions - salads already jazzed as suggested. Salmon impossibly expensive, so apologies for modest portions.
Look forward to seeing you next time
