this is a very different experience!!! situated in an old wash-house built in 1911 for train and truck drivers !!! now nestled away in the older part of JHB city! quite unique in that you actually sit in the old urinals!! the food is good and quite over the top but most enjoyable! the wine is expensive (for the reds!!) if i could fault anything it is that it is very difficult to find the place!!! some signboards would help!!!!

be prepared for a great dining experience as you enjoy fine dining, great atmosphere and awesome entertainment. the whole evening is well worth the spend.
set in an original public toilet in Newtown that has been converted into a arthouse restaurant that would seat probably not more then 30 or so people. very intimate. we had a seven course meal with each course being even better then the previous one. i do not eat meat and i was accommodated with fish , seafood, in all my courses where meat was used. truly divine. i had the fish as a main which was paired with the condiments to the T. loved this place and would go back again.entertainment changes every night and ours was a belly dancer and a flamenco dancer. what a load of laughs and provided a great setting for the evening

A really cool little bar and restaurant in an old Gentleman’s lavatory in New Town is horribly let down by over ambitious baroque food. Theatrical and fun but gastronomically abysmal.

Firstly the concept is very cool. Transforming the old mens toilet of the joburg station into a restaurant is such a crazy cool idea. The old urinals are used as rows of seats (not super practical since you have to lean forward to have a conversation) and the place has been done up in a very creative way. The owner was on hand and very kind and enthusiastic. The fire-eating show was also quite entertaining. My partner enjoyed the food more than me. I felt it was a bit stodgy and too rich and possibly with more focus on the presentation and concept than the actual taste. Maybe I just enjoy lighter fresher food. The amuse-bouche of a weird candy orb full of crushed nuts, some olives and a bucket of popcorn was a low point. The starter of snails and mushrooms was the best of the meals. The bouillabaisse didn't have a lot of flavour and was too large a portion for a second starter. The mains - a take on a victorian fest - was tasty but very very rich and by then we were very full. My wife did say that she loved the pork wing. The crepe suzette desert was too sweet and & would have loved something a little lighter and fresher by then. The biggest issue was the speed at which the courses were presented and without really checking if diners were ready for the next course. Apparently everyone had to eat at the same time - so we had a 45 minute wait before the starters arrived (fine after the large amuse bouche) but then the courses just kept coming. The promised break between mains and desert to watch the show didn't happen and we had hardly finished the massive mains when the equally large and sweet desert arrived. By 21h45 it was all over. I think portion size, pacing and getting really striking flavours on the plate are what's needed for a multi course fine dining experience and this place struggles on those fronts. It seems to be more of a function venue so I guess its set up for that, but i felt quite uncomfortable
by the end of the evening and needed a long walk to settle down.
