This camp has its own special charm, the surroundings are beautiful, lush and well maintained. Check in was a breeze, our little room in the bungalow was perfect. Not five star but really comfortable and suitable for a stay in the bush. The room had a fridge, kettle and cups and saucers for tea. We had our meal at the restaurant, which is very much like a school dining room - but the food was well presented and tasty. Staff were hands on and very friendly which made up for ambiance.

We went camping the past long week-end at Punda Maria. The camp site has electricity and are well maintained. Friendly staff assisted us at the Reception Desk. The 25km loop road around the camp was a pleasure to drive. Lots of animals and birds. We were 5 friends doing the trip together and the camp and roads were not that busy. That we enjoyed versus the South of the Park that is so over crowded. A must stop if you enjoy the slow life in the Kruger Park

Room Tip: If you are camping, keep your food locked up for the naughty monkeys

Stayed at Punda Maria from 18/02/17 to 21/02/17.
The room was well maintained and well serviced but that is where it ends. The camp is poorly maintained it is over grown with weeds and ants is all over the property, the staff was friendly but could be more helpful. The shop and restaurant is worth visiting the food quality is good but again the camp is so poorly maintained that you could fall through a broken window the walkway is over grown and I was unable to use and enjoy this. From here I travelled to Pafuri as this is where you can spot the Pel’s Fishing Owl but this was even worse the road is terrible that is if it is open the picnic spot was never open. I am very doubtful if I will stay here again.

Our first view of our safari tent (number 3) was somewhat disappointing. The tarpaulin was coming off and one of the sup[port poles was broken. The outside definitely looked like it needed some maintenance.
The very large deck was a lovely surprise. There were two sets of chairs and a table. There was also an outdoor kitchen. The large fridge has been moved inside the tent due to thieving monkeys, we were told! The tent was rather high set and it was a terrible shame that the surrounding bushes had not been trimmed to allow us a view. Our view of the landscape was zero!
Inside was a little cramped due to the fridge being relocated from outside to opposite the bed. Otherwise, all was in order, very clean and the beds were comfortable.
What made our visit very, very special was the arrival of an elephant one evening. He or she graced us with her incredible presence as she slept just on the other side of the fence near our tent. What a lovely experience! We were also visited by beautiful guinea fowl and the inevitable monkeys.
We took a look at the camping area and pool and were very impressed. the pool was gorgeous.
I'd definitely recommend a stay here. The safari tent experience is amazing!

Punda Maria rest camp had good accommodation, with an inside kitchen which is well equipped. Barbeque areas are central and you have to talk you stuff there but there is hotplates to make additional food on, hot water, a hydro boil and work area as well as ample seating and tables. Good pool to cool off in. At the unit there are outside seating but not nearly as nice as at other camps. Excellent game viewing and it is quiet and few people around even in peak season. There is only 23 units plus a caravan park, so it is minute compared to other camps. Easy drive to have a picnic at Pafuri.
