We never stay at the same place twice....... Except here. River House is an interesting, slightly quirky, and perfectly positioned place to stay - literally across the river from the Kruger Park. It is NOT a chain hotel. The rooms are individual; the entire place is like a lived in museum-of-everyday-life, every opportunity to put up house rules is taken, the breakfasts are an experience (to the European palette), the owners are delightful, the staff as well. The evening meals are just right (to the European palette).
But the real winner is the deck looking over to Kruger. As long as its dry enough, there will be animals all day popping down for a drink. Elephants for example. You can be metres away from one that's brave enough to come and eat the Marula fruit. Rhino, Waterbuck, bushbuck, Hippo, crocs, impala, all sorts of birds ....We happily spent a day watching them all.
Malelane can probably supply you with whatever you need if you are on your way into the park. River House Lodge is well signposted.More
