We stayed for 3 days at the Cape Royale hotel so naturally ate here for breakfast and lunch. BOTH meals were wonderful! The staff was terrific. We each enjoyed the breakfast options and variety of salads and sandwiches for lunch. Wished we had time to sample dinner, and did have food brought to the room for dinner late one night (which was also delish). Would love to go back some day!

I was staying at the hotel and tried the restaurant my last night. I only wished I had tried sooner. The service was excellent as was the food. I had a very good butternut squash soup followed by the smallest size offered filet mignon. Both portions were very large. The filet was cooked perfectly and was very tender.

This restaurant located in Cape Royal Hotel has a top quality chef as reflected in the menu. The service staff are very professional. The special grill produces beautiful steaks but the seafood entree was the star. The chef has other skills as well and was behind the microphone providing great music on one of the evenings we dined there.

Stayed at the Cape Royale Hotel and so decided to try their restaurant and very pleasantly surprised. Initially we we're put off by the focus on large steaks but all three of us found alternative dishes. the Salmon was some of the best I have had and was properly cooked - not translucent at all. the risotto was HUGE and the duck very well done.
Service was great with no issue being taken when we asked them to close the window.
And the price was a surprise - 3 mains and drinks for 55 aus dollars
Well worth a return visit

I had dinner at at Bistro 1800 in the Cape Royal Hotel on 9 Apr 14 whilst staying at the Dysarty Luxury Boutique hotel which was only a 5 – 8 mins walk away. The food was good but the service was very poor and the place totally lacking in atmosphere; the restaurant was empty and we were seated outside under a covered veranda at the front of the hotel. As it got dark the waiting staff didn’t turn the outside lights on and one table were using the light from their mobile phones to read the menu and the specials board became invisible in the gloom. It appears to be mainly a tourist venue. Summary: no atmosphere, poor service, although good food, reasonably priced (18 RAND to the UK pound) – a maybe recommend if you can’t get in elsewhere.
