From the moment you step into La Colombe you realise that magic surrounds you. The passion that our servers had for the food as they explained the course to follow and the wine that is paired with it, excites ones taste buds. With each bite there is an explosion of flavour that is indescribable. Each dish was prepared to perfection. Scot Kirton and his team truly deserve to be restaurant of the year and too keep the accolade as the no 1 chef. The experience of La Colombe will reside with us for many years to come. Thank you La Colombe for sharing your magic with us, it was truly a magical night.

After all the hyped reviews and recommandations, it was time to face La Colomce at Silvermist.
I will not bother you with a list of names of other restaurants were i had dinner, but trust me i have rated experience...
The FOOD: i was not surprised by combinations of tastes, textures, color, food emotion.
I did like their signature tuna can dish, also the ice cream of artishoke was entertaining.
Many of the 14 courses contained the same citrus styled ingredients.
Flavors were blend and monotone in experience..
Portion of some dishes were so small i could hardly taste the flavor of it.
THE WINES...well fantastic wines on the wine wine list, i choose the wine pairing with my menu, unfortunately the sommelier and the staff forgot to pour the wine with my new served dish, i had to ask for it for three times. Also tiny wine tasting portions on the wine.
THE STAFF: biggest draw back, just not up to par. Lack of attention, not enough attention for details, too casual, you are just not being hosted like one would expect in a priced restaurant like this.

Conclusion: if you like avant garde cuisine, good presentation and attention and flavor and variety is not your main concern, this is your place!
I would visit an other restaurant in this area..
Hype is over for me!

The drive up to La Colombe is rather spectacular and so is the food. We did the full 14 course tasting menu (I had the veggie option), and there was no difficulty in my other half swapping out one of his dishes for one from my list. The staff were efficient & knowledgable. The food was fantastic, although there were a few courses that let it down a little, like the risotto rice being slightly underdone & my husband felt that some of his dishes were missing the wow factor.

It's well worth the trip, although to be totally honest, if you only have one evening for a truly fancy meal, go to The Greenhouse instead.

Definitely a case of the Emperor's clothes..... To expect a deposit with booking is arrogant and the presentation is gimmicky and minimalist to the extreme.
