Stayed a few days on business with colleagues. We had business in Cape Town but Penelope's is a great base to be to relax and be just far enough away from Cape Town. There are many vineyards within 10 minutes reach and you could spend the whole week trying them all from here. Warm welcome and sitting out having breakfast gives a nice holiday and relaxed feel to start the day. Rooms are air conditioned with balconies and very spacious for a couple. Satellite TV with live sports is a bonus for sports fans with all the major English premier league games shown live during the season. Thoroughly recommend it as a base for Cape Town and within 30 minutes drive from Airport meaning you don't need to drive through Cape Town to get there on arrival or departure which is also ideal.

This was a very good guesthouse in an excellent location. Only 5 minutes drive from the centre of Stellenbosch and wine estates about 10 minutes drive. Penelope gave us very good information on the wine estates and on Stellenbosch.

This place is in an accessible location for the vineyards and the restaurants.

The rooms are a nice size, are furnished well and ours had a great porch.

Wifi was good and the room had Satellite TV.

Breakfast was wonderful--I watched Penny pull some herbs from her garden for breakfast--a nice touch.

Rates are fair.

Penny was absolutely wonderful to talk to as well.

We hope to see you again on your next visit.

We spent three nights in three different establishments in Stellenbosch in late February 2016 and Penelope's was our stand-out favourite! The property is in Paradyskloof just off the R44 and a few minutes drive from Stellenbosch town.

The four rooms are large each with their own balcony (with good views) and well appointed and equiped en suite bathroom. The king size bed was super comfortable and the Nespresso coffee machine was a great bonus. The four rooms feed off a common area which is equiped with additional tea and coffee, a honesty bar and ironing equipment (which was so useful as we were literally living out of a suitcase).

Your host Penelope Malan will do everything to ensure that you are comfortable. She is very knowledgeable of the area and can provide whatever local advice you require. The breakfast was a real home from home affair - super tasty and freshly prepared with a large assortment of cerials, pastries and fruit.

We had a great stay and would most certainly make Penelope's our place of choice when visiting Stellenbosch in the future.

Room tip: Room 4 has the best views!
