After reading a review in a local magazine and decided to book a table (recommended) and try it for ourselves. We were not disappointed. We had delicious fish and chips, wine (about 9 euros a bottle) and desert. Food great, views amazing and staff friendly and helpful. After the meal we booked (at the restaurant) a sunbed on the beach where we spent a peaceful afternoon. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Cabanas Beach restaurant is not accessible by vehicle from Burgau, but is the next beach West from Burgau beach accessed off the inland Road and signposted. You could walk along a rugged coastal path from Burgau
The restaurant and it's terrace and sunshade concession takes up most of the beach, and have a monopoly.
My dilemma is whether to review this as a restaurant in relation to other local restaurants or purely as a tourist facility. On our visit on a Sunday at the beginning of November, all of the clients were non-Portuguese.
The situation is excellent with a panoramic covered area at the front, that can be closed off by clear plastic roller blinds. Near the window was indirect sunlight which was too hot for us. The furniture was plastic covered metal chairs and formic topped tables, adequate for a cheap beach bar, but the prices here deserved a bit more comfort.
Three attractive and friendly female waitresses, one informed male waiter and a barman made up the.staff.
An interesting menu. As it was lunch, we decided on four starters to share, and ignored the salads, burgers and grilled mains, though they did look attractive as the dishes passed to other diners.
We started with beetroot hummus served with vegetables, which turned out to be a few slices of cucumber about half a sliced red pepper and some segments of pitta bread. I would have preferred celery and carrot sticks.
Second some calamari rings with a spicy sauce. Served hot and with a thin tempura like batter they were nice enough, but the sauce was not spicy.
Next some spicy prawns, which were of medium size, nicely cooked, still crunchy, with a spicy sauce, but with 8 prawns and 9 heads worked out at more than a Euro each. Served with fresh crusty bread to mop up the sauce.
Finally, the most disappointing starter, spicy chicken wings. 6 wings each two sections without the tips, but clearly from bantam chickens as they were tiny! They were rather dry under the overcooked crumbly coating, and just not as good as they should have been.
A nice apple pie with ice cream as dessert was fine, but at €5.90 expensive.
Overall it was an upmarket beach bar with food attractive to tourists, but as often the case with a captive audience it was overpriced.
The beach us rocky but a superb setting in the sun on a day with light winds.

We were recently on vacation in Burgau area and saw this restaurant on Trip Advisor. Definitely became our 'go to place' to eat! The food is delicious, the atmosphere is great.. all ages feel comfortable. We were a couple and booked a table by the window the first night. Although all seats are great. Good for families too. Tuna and sweet potatoes a favourite of mine. All food was delicious, well prepared and healthy. Service was great. Owner was there the first night and made us feel very welcome. The music was so much fun! All in all, a great dinner location, atmosphere and food.. make the short trip out, its' worth it!

We were on a family holiday in a villa in nearby Budens and saw this restaurant on Trip Advisor. We were a 3 generation family with two 1year olds. They coped with us well, brought bread early for the little ones, and the lunch of tuna salad, fish burger, meat burger and chicken was appreciated by all of us. The food is modern, and very well made. A little more expensive than some other places but well worth it.
The setting is very picturesque and once you get to the top of Burgau, it is well signposted, but essentially it is on the coast road between Salema and Burgau.
Yes the track down to the beach is a bit bumpy but relatively short.
The beach is a bit more stony than some others but has a simple sweep on it and because Cababas is the only thing there, they provide good quality beach furniture, including sun beds, platforms and umbrellas and stands. There is a large covered area outside the restaurant which is great for small ones and they can play in the sand while you eat and drink. We didn't book, so had to wait a bit, but it was only about 8 mins and we were able to decide what to eat.
The staff are friendly and efficient, one of our meals was rather late, which spoilt the jolly atmosphere a bit.
Great place and very tasty food.
