Stayed at Malibu 24 – 8 August 14 nights self-catering. Despite our flight being delayed by two hours from Gatwick the apartment was not ready! We were offered the Attic Studio until 12 midday. When we booked this holiday I specifically stated to Truly Travel (Truly Awful Travel) we did not want the Attic Studio as we are tall at 6ft and 5ft 7". Next shocker the unexpected £50 for air conditioning OTT in comparison to other establishments in Ovacik and totally ineffective unless its left running for a minimum of four hours. Malibu website states hair dryer and iron, there is neither? I asked to borrow an iron and was given one with black gunk stuck to the plate which could not despite my scrubbing be removed. The second iron was clean but the steam part was broken, no ironing board either. The 25th August was our Silver Wedding Anniversary; we asked Metin (Michael) if he could recommend a romantic place to celebrate the evening, he highly Izela near the Ghost Village adding that his Brother would drive us there and back at a cost of 80 Lira. Later we discovered that Izela along with most other establishments slightly on the outskirts of this area offer a Free pick-up and return, something that Metin (Michael) is fully aware of! This upset us very much, we felt we had been taken advantage of on our special occasion; needless to say this was not the only disappointment we had during our stay at the Malibu. Room No. 6, the mattress is uncomfortable and lumpy, no mattress cover – yuck, just a fitted sheet a top sheet and a bed cover, we slept under the bed cover which was not changed once during our entire stay. The two ring hob was dirty, extractor fan above didn’t work, not enough cutlery, china or pans the wooden spoons were disgusting, fit for the bin as was the chopping board, the kettle was in urgent need of de-scaling, cups and classes with chips out of them, very poor standard indeed. The fridge turned everything to blocks of ice due to the fact there was no door on the freezer compartment. The knobs on the kitchen cupboard doors came off in our hands. All in all the kitchen area needed maintenance and a jolly good clean. The living room area was badly arranged; we moved the sofa to better make use of the space to find rubbish and broken china underneath it, same thing under our bed too! There were two patches of damp on our bedroom wall, the paint and plaster was falling off, same in the lounge there was rising damp in each corner. We couldn't sit on our balcony as there was an overhanging tree which dropped dead leaves and flowers onto the balcony floor plus a constant stream of ants, the air conditioning unit leaked water onto the balcony continuously making it wet and slippery to walk on. The wardrobe is child size and didn't have enough hangers most of which were broken or not fit for purpose. Two tiny child size cupboards and two teeny-weeny drawers, not enough room for one person’s clothes let alone two people. There are not enough sunbeds round the pool all are past their best and need replacing, same with most of the parasols the bases are cracked and leak water. The food is good but very small portions for the prices charged which are expensive in comparison to other establishments close by. The bar is poorly stocked, if you leave payment of your bar bill until the next day you get overcharged as Metin (Michael) will pluck figures out of the sky adding items to your bill which you have not had, warning pay-as you-go to avoid being overcharged. If Metin (Michael) paid a fraction of the attention to his paying guests as he devotes to his UK Essex friends who drop by each day for hours on end, the paying guests would receive far better service! We got fed-up with Metin’s UK Essex & East End London friends who were not staying at the Malibu going behind the bar helping themselves to drinks, being served meals much larger portions than we were served and not appearing to pay for any of it, clearly we were subsidising them. They also dominated the space around the pool taking up sunbeds intended for paying guests; basically they behaved as if they owned the Malibu treating paying guests as passing trade! Despite the on-going disappointments we met some lovely fun guests at the Malibu which made our holiday. One last thing, the pool is very good and well maintained as are the gardens. Sadly I can’t add more positives. All I can say is Metin (Michael) couldn't care less; he has too many fingers in too many pies to give guests at the Malibu the slightest consideration or any semblance of professional service.

Room Tip: Rooms on Second floor are much better then First floor

Stayed here for 10 days but wish it was longer, ok the rooms are basic but very clean, the family who own it bend over backwards to help, food & drink here are not overpriced & good quality. Most definitely want to go back there again.

Just had a great week at the Malibu hotel Ovacik, The family run hotel was superb and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. I met some lovely people and will definitely return in August, the food and drinks are very reasonable. The two sons Metin and Cetin were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble.thanks for a great holiday .

The rooms here are basic but clean, the staff are very friendly, the food and drinks are cheap, the location is peaceful, the pool is clean, well worth the £38 I paid for a 1 room apartment for 7 nights from 19 May. Bit of a treck up the hill from Hisaronou, will cost 11 tl in a cab. Would go again....oh and you may have to ask how to work the toilet flush :0)

Room Tip: The studios don't have a balcony

Despite the many mixed reviews featured on this site I find this hotel a super little hidden gem in ovacik. The staff of the hotel always make us welcome when we return to this hotel year after year.Joseph,Nevin,Metin and Chetin have all helped make our holidays to turkey wonderfull never failing to do all they can to make our holiday wishes come true.No this hotel is not the Ritz but nor is the price you pay to stay at this very friendly comfortable hote that oozes turkish character. We have made many many friends in the hotel bar over the years both guests and non guests who drink here reguarly for the homely feel and laid back atmosphere of the hotel. Many of the problems wrote about in this feature have been caused by the over eager booking agencies who grab every booking and fail to check real time availability leaving the hotel staff to sort out the fallout.Dont be put off by the few bad reviews of this hotel it really is as many other reviews state a very friendly, reasonably priced ,home from home in the sun with good food, friendly staff and a real local buzz to the place. We have been to the hotel several times over th last few years and will be returning again early next year.Thankyou all the family and see you then.

Room Tip: talk to metin, chetin or joseph if you ant to go anywhere they will arrange everything for you and you will know you have a good price and all will go as requested.
