Our first Christmas out of our home(to live in farawaynChina) and we met our US-based sons for Christmas at the Dove Mt. resort...It was as good as Christmas away from home could be! Beautifully decorated, with touches of Southwestern living throughout....Stockings on our door Christmas morning and a lovely dinner Christmas Eve...Perfect, really...Very relaxing and comfortable....Especially by the fire...listening to a distant flute at sunset provided by a local. Staff is Ritz quality...Loved the Rangers who took time to show us local critters...so nice.
And the Spa is worth a return trip...In fact, I'm planning our return next year!

Room Tip: We had two adjoining rooms with an outer door...But they also offer cottages out back which look inviting!

My husband, 7 year old son and I recently stayed for 5 nights. This property is secluded, but in such a wonderful way. I highly recommend a casita. With two balconies, it was impossible to miss any of the beautiful sunsets. The views, accompanied by a flutist each evening at 5pm, gave one the feeling of total relaxation and being apart from the rest of the world. We went on a half day hike, right outside the casita door. No need to drive to a park. This hotel feels like it is within a park. We ordered room service three times: 1 breakfast and 2 dinners. In spite of the casita being a bit of a distance from the main hotel and the unusually cold weather, we were impressed by both the quality of the meals and the ability of the staff to serve all items at the appropriate temperature. Well done! Dinner at Core was lovely, although we preferred the slightly more casual feel of Caytons, where we enjoyed a post-dinner astronomy lesson (my son was thrilled to be able to see Jupiter! Pretty amazing.) The pool was heated to a very comfortable temp and my son especially enjoyed the slide. There were several families with small children staying at the same time we were there, and it gave a more casual feel to the hotel although the level of service was more traditional, i.e. excellent. Gustavo, who helped us to our room during check in, continued to be gracious and friendly throughout the week. The service at Ignite was a bit more spotty, although our overall impression was that this hotel was a very unique place, not too fussy but with excellent amenities and attentive staff.

Room Tip: The casita rooms are spacious, with amazing views and easy access to all the hotel amenities.

Just returned from a week here. The hotel is generally up to Ritz standards. The staff is helpful and the extra little amenities (turn down, chocolates, recognition by name) are all there. Just be aware that this hotel is five to six miles from the nearest street...you essentially go down a six mile driveway to get here. Valet parking is pretty much required, since the non-valet lot is a good distance away. So to leave the hotel for a short trip is a bit of a project; call for the car from the valet, drive the six miles to the closest street (Tangerine Road), make your trip, drive the six miles back, and valet the car.

The dining options range from decent value to overpriced, but the food quality is very good. Some heavy appetizers or a light dinner at Ignite outside is a pleasure. The views and sunsets are spectacular. The spa (my wife tells me) is first rate.

We had stayed here previously in October 2011. We returned and stayed after Christmas and everything was still decorated for the holiday. Beautiful white lights on the catcus and trees made for a beautiful view everywhere we looked. The hotel had an amazing teepee made out of gingerbread that was absolutely stunning.

Our room was one of the casitas and the view from there is breathtaking. The way the casita faced we were able to sit out on the porch at the end of the day and watch the sunset.

Even though it was December we were able to use the pool and hot tub, since they both are heated. We enjoyed lunch by the pool at Turquesa and the servers are fast and attentive.

We had an amazing dinner at Core. Make sure to try the BBQ roasted quail, it was delicious. Our whole meal and dining experience was wonderful.

We also ate at Ignite, make sure to try the Buffalo Tacos and Avocado Fries--yum!!

At the Spa I had a Mimosa Massage. If you get a chance, go relax by the spa pool. You don't have to have a treatment, to use the pool either.

Room Tip: Stay in one of the casitas. The view is amazing and you're close enough to the hotel and pool but it does really feel like you have the hotel all to yourself by staying in a casita.

We were in Arizona for a family wedding and decided to get away for a night at The Ritz Carlton Dove Mountain. We were not disappointed. The resort is in the middle of nowhere, about 45 minutes north of Tucson. There really is nothing to do but hang out at the resort but we were okay with that. The rooms were good size and we had a balcony overlooking the mountain. The highlight of the room was a huge soaking tub in the bathroom with a TV. The pools are all heated and there were plenty of people swimming even though it was chilly. They have an upper pool area for adults and a lower pool area for families. The family pool has fountains, a large area appropriate for small children, and a long water slide. There was also badminton and other lawn games available. It was chilly while we were there so the staff provided us with hot cocoa as we walked the grounds. We ate dinner at the Ignite Lounge. A highlight of the stay was listening to the Native American flutist play shortly before sunset. The service throughout the stay was excellent.
