This hotel is located in a wonderful location in Recoleta, within walking distance to many places, both in Recoleta (cemetery, flower statue, Alvear Avenue) as well as to Retiro and even Puerto Madero and Microcentro if you are a walker. Many many restaurants and bars nearby, with many of the most famous ones in BA within walking distance.
The concierge staff is top notch, willing to help you with anything! Special shoutout to Belen for her help to us!
Breakfast buffet is plentiful and varied. We were there for four nights and although the items were the same every day, there was enough variety to choose different things every day. They even let us in to grab some things before they opened at 6:30 am when we had early departure for a tour to Uruguay.
Meals at the Brick Kitchen (Hotel restaurant) were very tasty and relatively cheap compared to other places. The chef is innovative, only negative thing I would have to say is his heavy handedness with salt (but probably that's why the food tastes good :) !). House wines were fine and very reasonable in price. Their squid ink risotto cakes were delicious!
Our room was clean and okay in size. TINY shower. Most negative thing about the room was that it was TOO DARK. They need to up the wattage of the bulbs in the lamps. I hate dark rooms so this may be a personal preference. We got to check in early, around noon, although they couldn’t grant a high floor room as requested. Room overlooked the garden and was very quiet. The elevators are a bit slow since there are only two, especially if there is a big group or conference here.
Everything was wonderful with our stay. Wonderful staff. Friendly porters and valets. Nice fitness center. Small indoor pool next to the Fitness Center but we did not use.
Do NOT use hotel car service. Taxis are fine to use in BA. We used the hotel car service for a pickup after a tango show and the price was more than 10 times what a taxi would have cost. We took many many taxis and had no probs whatsoever.
Make sure your airport transfer knows to take you to the new location of this Sofitel. Although they have been here for a few years, our EZEIRA taxi first took us to their old location (my fault for not showing the driver the address of the hotel).
WE WOULD RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL if you don't want to pay Four Seasons or Alvear Palace prices (both are very nearby).
