We planned to spend our last three nights in Samoa exploring the Apia area and chose Le Manumea on the basis of the swimming pool, proximity to Vailima and Mt Vaea Reserve, the special they had on offer that included breakfast and dinner at no extra cost and Trip Adviser reviews. We were very pleased with our choice.

We arrived at 9:30am without having intended to be that early but there was no problem letting us into a room which we appreciated greatly. The units are located in a charmingly landscaped tropical shrub garden providing maximum privacy. Our room was very spacious with tasteful interior design and décor. The lava rock ensuite opened to the blue sky above adding the perfect tropical appeal for both guests and geckos alike.

The fresh tuna served on the special dinner menu was so perfectly cooked that we could not resist it for each of our 3 nights stay and we enjoyed immensely the palusami, breadfruit and taro on the Sunday buffet. Luna, the owner, and her staff were very friendly and looked after us well.

Although on the main Cross Island Road the location was quiet and less than 10 minutes by taxi (10 tala) to the Apia city centre or the Palolo Deep Marine Reserve. Robert Louis Stevenson's Vailima Homestead – now a fascinating museum and historical photograph gallery – was a 10 minute walk, and immediately adjacent was the Vailima Botanical Garden and start of the climb to the Stevensons' grave on forested Mt Vaea all providing a worthwhile day's enjoyment.

We paid 280 tala per night for the room, tropical breakfast and dinner which we thought was great value for an establishment of this quality, and a fitting end to our Samoan adventures.

Room Tip: Rooms 103-112 are all great in the leafy secluded garden.

Stayed 2 nights in this property with a group of 10+ family and friends. We received a great offer from cominication via email with Luna, resort manager. The deal included breakfast and dinner which was great value.

The rooms were great. Lots of space, a mini kitchenette with a microwave and sink was a great bonus. Open air bathroom was a treat and Everything was very clean and modern.

The pool area was good and drinks/food quite reasonable. The youngin of the group loved ten vailima towers, which were the equivalent of 10 bottles of vailima for only 45 tala! Staff were helpful but sometimes a little confused or slow to react. More lack of knowledge vs tardiness. One qualm we did have was that the owners allowed cultural practice to take place for a good portion of one of our days. Which involved loud drums, music and chanting from th two groups of dancers. Probably interesting for some guests o see but since we are well accustomed to this sort of dancing our group it more of a hassle and disturbance vs interesting. In other properties that we have stayed on, the groups practiced out to the back of the resort as to avoid disrupting guests. This would have been more ideal.

Otherwise, great stay. Good prices. Great rooms and good staff!

Would return!

Room Tip: All rooms are great and close to the pool area so just book and go!

Le Manumea is well located – it’s in the hills on the Cross Island Road, not far from town. They can arrange pick-up / drop-off to the airport, even for flights in the middle of the night. The ride only takes about 40 minutes from the airport and is reasonably priced. We had ‘Pete’ do the transfer – a wealth of information on Samoa. Would recommend Pete.

The resort is cosy and the staff are friendly – our stay was made personal. The rooms are spacious, and the outside shower / bathrooms are really cool.

Our room did lack some attention to detail – there was a broken lamp shade, broken shelving in the kitchen area and the fridge handle wasn’t clean. The fridge didn’t cool properly, and this was attended to by Luna straight away – there was a replacement up and running when we got back after a day out, and they’d filled it with our drinks, which were lovely and cold.

Our deal included a standard breakfast, which was fine – eggs, cereal and toast. We could have ‘upgraded’ for a small charge, but didn’t. Dinner options during our stay were limited – a buffet was put on on most nights, but the amount of choice varied and the quality was only OK. Apia however offers excellent alternatives – we loved Paddles!

Would we stay again? Yes, if in Apia but we’d eat out more.

The hotel is a little way from the centre of town and the units are nice and quiet with air cond and a really novel outdoor bathroom. Having the kitchenette is a real bonus but there was also breakfast included as late as needed which was nice. There are shops and restaurants near and it's a short taxi ride to the city, but renting a car is a good idea as you can then visit every part of upolo, and try all the beaches around.

Stayed here for 4 nights in August. First impression was room could be a bit cleaner.Just walked into our room when arrived and there was a dead cockroach on floor. Floor in room looked like it had been given just a little sweep. Not much care taken to get it extra clean for a new guest arriving.Curtains were in need of a wash covered with dust and muck.Room was spacious. Had a mini kitchenette if you wanted to make a little bite to eat had a microwave, fridge and the basics of cutlery. The best part of the room was the outdoor shower.
Room rate included breakfast. Which consisted of toast and 1 egg any style you wanted it cooked.A bowl of cornflakes and a little fruit. The fruit most of the time didn't look to fresh. Looked on the old side. Had a swimming pool and a bar. Never tried the hotel restaurant as wasn't to impressed with the breakfast however the drinks at the bar were reasonably priced. There is a lovely restaurant down the road from the hotel called Scalini's which I would highly recommend.
