Owner description: Red Rock State Park is a 286 acre nature preserve and environmental education center with stunning scenery. Trails throughout the park wind through manzanita and juniper to reach the rich banks of Oak Creek. Green meadows are framed by native vegetation and hills of red rock. The creek meanders through the park, creating a diverse riparian habitat abounding with plants and wildlife. This riparian habitat provides the setting and the opportunity for the park to offer a focus on environmental education. Red Rock offers a variety of special programs for school groups and private groups. There are a number of daily and weekly park events. The park offers a visitors center, classroom, theater, park store, ramada and hiking trails.

If you want to hike thru some nice scenery and along the oak creek, this is your spot. Usually you can see different birds, deer, lizards, and occasional bird of prey. The trails are all different lengths from 0.4 to 1.9 miles. Some are more strenuous than others. But it is a nice place.

The Red Rocks State Park is one of Arizona’s treasures. The red rocks are breathtaking and spiritual for some. Many people say they feel a spiritual energy here from
The vortex.

Low cost, relatively safe, great guidance from maps and staff, bathrooms easily available at the entrance. Conveniently distant from town center.

Loved this state park. Note there is a cost for the day-pass and it's a state park so you can't use National park pass, but it was cheap - under $10 as I recall. There are some trails that are really easy to walk. If you want views, I did Eagle viewpoint. It was spectacular. I'm in decent shape so the well marked trail was easy, but you do switchbacks and it's a bit of an ascent. I saw plenty of folks who were a bit older but having no problem taking their time.

Your view of Cathedral Rock is a bit distant, so there are few parks closer for that classic up close with a reflection in the water picture, but this view is worth it. I'm glad I did both.

In southwestern Sedona sits this little gem of a park. Good for a 1/4 - 1/2 day walk with mild elevation change and about 4 1/2 miles of trail. Great views of Cathedral Rock and many other surrounding areas like the 3 Sisters and others. Nice visitors center with shop as well. $7 per person for entry. Worth if for the nicely maintained trails. They have educational signs scattered as well.
