My family of 9 (including a baby) just spent 5 days at this resort and had a marvelous time. We chose this destination after by chance I met a woman who has a time share there, goes every year, and raved about the experience..
Our suites were lovely and obviously had been upgraded fairly recently, done extremely well. The rooms had blackout shades and were very quiet, promoting good sleep. The kitchens were well equipped with everything one needs to cook full meals. The resort provided us with a highchair. We could get all 9 of us comfortably around the table in a Mesa Suite (two bedrooms) for dining and playing card and board games.
The grounds are spacious, with numerous pools and spas and other fun amenities, including a labyrinth, hammock complex, putting green, and life sized checker set. Our units were nearby to the large Sunset pool and spa, which were very popular with our group and other guests. That spa is enormous, with a water temperature that was just right. When we got there, I went to test the water temperatures and asked a man in the spa how it was. He replied, “Somewhere between beautiful and perfect.”
The staff is very responsive, particularly impressive because the resort was at full capacity when we were there. The grounds are immaculate, and whenever we needed a resupply we immediately found a staffer nearby our units. The resort is very well run. Huge credit to Assistant General Manager Luis Felix, who stepped in and promptly resolved an issue with our accommodations at check-in.
The location is great, west of town outside the bustle and traffic and very close to grocery stores, restaurants, and other shops of all sorts. The resort abuts a huge National Forest that has lots of hiking trails. Other hiking trails with great views of the red rocks, including Cathedral Rock, were within a 10 minute drive. A junior college is a short walk from the resort, and its huge parking lots are a perfect vantage point to view the spectacular sunsets.
The negatives others have mentioned in reviews were not issues for us. The internet access in the rooms was sufficient to support email and headline searches – those in our group who needed more for work went to tables in the lobby and found that very satisfactory. The resort does not have a café or restaurant, but we would not have used that as there were countless options within a short and scenic drive and we fully stocked our kitchen at the nearby Whole Foods and Safeway. The concierge staff were helpful in giving us information we requested and never gave us a sales pitch about buying a time shares or activities.
Our time there was in a word, wonderful. It met and exceeded our high expectations and provided good value for what we paid.
