Breathtaking scenery!

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 2 Oct 2024
We stayed here on a trip to relax and get away from the city, and we could not have been happier. The location on the edge of town was perfect for instant nature as soon as walking out the door, but still 5 minutes from a grocery store or restaurants. Once I understood the property was more like an apartment than a hotel, it made sense. I had called the front desk to ask someone to take the trash and when they left me empty bags I found the convenient large can outside. So I see how expectations could lead to confusion. Desk service was always very helpful and friendly and accommodating, but I think communicating this distinction in property type could go a long way.
Facilities were lovely and well maintained, and frequent text communication during our stay was also appreciated. I’ve seen reviews about “pressure for time share presentation” and we had zero experience with that. Will definitely return here!

The overall facility is nice and the view is beautiful. You receive text message updates of what’s going on in the facility which is a plus.

Outstanding location within the Sedona area but unless you are an active owner or other privileged customer expect your assigned accommodation to be well worn, outdated and in the least desirable areas within the complex. Do not get expectations too high from the pictures and descriptions as we did while booking. Once on site the typical hard sell for joining along with the standard (heard this exact line several times while waiting for check in) "we are at capacity so your room is the 'best' available". Doubtful, since the complex is mega-huge and witnessed many unused units while traversing the property. Hello raging highway noise, parking lot and barbecue pit views...goodbye tranquil, scenic experience. Buyer beware, if using the room as place to sleep combined with some promotional rate go for it...otherwise not worth the cost.

Room tip: Facilities not adequate for the number of visitors such a hot tub(s) good luck with that one. Get out and back early to avoid the masses.

This resort is modern, clean, roomy and comfortable. The staff is so friendly and quickly accommodated any needs we had. The location is convenient to everything. This is the second time we’ve stayed at this resort in the last 6 years. We’ve had a wonderful experience both times. There were 6 of us with 4 different units on this trip, and we were all completely satisfied and would definitely return. Our only complaint is the internet service is very spotty.

We had high expectations for this place and were looking forward to our stay at Sedona. Check-in staff was polite, and managed to put the two rooms close enough to each other at our request. However, that's when the politeness ended. After check-in, they will direct you to another area where there was a pushy sales person pressuring guests to attend time-share presentations at their other Hilton Vacation Club location in Sedona. After listening to the introduction from the sales person, we were appalled when they started questioning our English language ability after we asked a few questions and were going to politely decline their offer. Just because we are Asian doesn't mean that we can't comprehend English. They kept repeating that and then backed out on their offers for the timeshare presentation. We were pretty disgusted by their attitudes and declined their offers. Other reviews have also mentioned the pushy and aggressive behavior from the timeshare salespeople, so I would highly recommend just checking in at the front desk and then leaving immediately. Don't waste your time with those folks.

As other reviews have mentioned, the rooms are dated and the cabinets for the kitches are in need or replacement. Some of them looked like they will fall off any minute. The pull-out couch in our suite was not made and we had to place the mattress back ourselves. Upon returning from a hike the next afternoon, the rooms were not cleaned. We texted them for fresh towels and housekeeping and left for another hike in the afternoon. When we returned in the evening, no one showed up to clean the room, and the fresh towels were nowhere to be seen. They were left at the door of another suite. I also received a text claiming that our check-out time was 10 AM the next day when I had requested a later check-out time, and the check-in staff had confirmed this on the first day. The front desk staff during check out wouldn't honor this and insisted we checked out at 10 am. All in all, there's a lot of frustration staying at this property, and I would not recommend coming back again. Originally one star, but I added another star for the Mesa view.

Following a bad Airbnb experience with a gross misrepresentation from the host about the place we rented with my husband and where we could not even spend one night, we searched in emergency for a hotel to stay. We ended up at The Hilton Summit for 2 nights as they had no availability later.

We were given a studio in the corner of the resort with a small balcony facing the main highway with roaring cars and pick up trucks 24 hours a day!!!
The bedroom was clean but it looked more like a hotel from the early 2000s. The fridge in our unit was incredibly loud at night and same for the strong blowing cold air AC. We barely slept during our stay.

When they asked us to rate our stay I gave them a 2 stars. Staff started texting us nonstop and offered to send maintenance to look at the problems but we were so tired from our "bad adventure" in Sedona that we declined.

Also when we checked in, we had to deal with pushy staff offering to buy a time-share in which we had no interest because we live in PA. Obviously their goal is to sell you something not accommodate you for a few days

As for the pool, it was pleasant but if you are a swimmer forget it. This is only a pool to cool off.

Frankly we found that that our overall and hotel experience in Sedona was below fair and tragically unworthy of the beauty of the surrounding nature.

How is it possible that Sedona, which draws pride from its natural beauty and being a highly touristic area, has been devastated by such a disastrous hotel industry??
Why is it that all hotels are built on a major highway? Who agreed to this? The City council? The Chamber of Commerce? Do they think visitors come to be exposed to that? How can they claim it is a place where people come for soothing spiritual experience in such a context? This is purely FALSE ADVERTISEMENT.

Conclusion: Our annual vacation was a fiasco and lasted 72 hours (while we came all the way from the east coast!) when we had planned a week vacation. Really sad.

We left Sedona with a sour taste and I have shared my comments with the Mayor of Sedona, the Chamber of Commerce and the Tourism Bureau.

I would not recommend going to Sedona. Highly overrated.

Room tip: Hotel w/rooms in need of an upgrade. High Risk of facing main highway & not Mountain views. Not a lap swimming pool
