Convenient Location, Pleasant Layout and decor

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 18 Oct 2024
The resort itself was very convenient to hiking trails, dark skies stargazing, day trips to Cottonwood and more. Though further out of town than other resorts, it still is convenient to restaurants, shopping and more.

We were able to put in a request for a unit with a nice view and happy that this was fulfilled.

We attended the timeshare presentation in order to cancel the $200 resort fees (for what, we weren't really informed). We did not receive this refund until we called later and had this fixed. If we hadn't double-checked this, I doubt we would've received the refund. We expressed our disappointment about this in the phone call. The presentation itself was pleasant enough, with no pressure at all. We just didn't appreciate the need to attend, just to negate the resort fee. We knew going in that we weren't going to purchase more points.

My husband and I spent 3 nights here in a 1 bedroom Mesa King Suite. Check-in was very friendly and efficient, and although we were asked if we wanted to attend a vacation club meeting, we declined and there was no pressure at all. We were given information by the concierge about the area and some discounts at local restaurants. She offered to book us tours or activities, which we didn't need.
I was apprehensive after reading some of the poor reviews, particularly about the condition of the units, but we were pleasantly surprised. Our spacious unit was on the ground floor but there were still a few steps to go down to it. The upper units had a lot more stairs, and there are no elevators. Parking was close, and we were across the street from the main building in one of the many complexes onsite. Decor was attractive, the full kitchen was well stocked with equipment to cook and eat, the living area was comfortable and it was nice having the separate bedroom and a very spacious bathroom with soaking tub and nice shower. Everything was clean and overall well maintained. There was good lighting, AC, and wifi. We did have issues with the patio sliding door and screen sticking and we informed the desk that one of the shower glass panels was a bit wobbly. Housekeeping only comes every 4th day, but we had plenty of thick towels for the stay. The bed was most comfortable we've had a hotel in quite awhile and the pillows were good too. We could hear some noise from the guests above us, but nothing annoying. My understanding is that the non "Mesa" units might not be as nice, so I can't speak for them, but ours was great. If ever in Sedona again we would stay at this location, but would definitely request a suite with a view of the mountains. Our view from the patio was obstructed by other buildings and trees. Overall a great experience.

Room tip: If possible, ask for a room with a mountain and sunset view.

First… the GREAT. They greet you with “welcome home” and you instantly feel it! They texted and checked on us during our stay to see how things were going. The GOOD - the balcony and the view (although I wanted a better view, it was unavailable and not offered when booking). The BAD - no regular room service, you have to ask them to come get the trash and bring fresh towels. The UGLY - the thermostat will not go lower than 68 - and we like to sleep a little cooler than that, especially after hiking in 100 degree weather! Also, the bed wasn’t the most comfortable and the sheets seemed like a lesser quality than I would have expected… they were actually a little scratchy! For the price, I would not return.

The rooms were nice and clean, basically a nice stay for the hotel part but no room services offered. This is my issue, we checked in easily, then was told to meet our concierge which hounded us to go to a time share, after a 5-hour drive and 30 minutes of saying no, we finally agreed so we could get to our room. We got a $200 meal print out of some kind (we would have paid that anyhow) then charged $40 in case we didn't go to the said time share meeting, really? We showed up and told them that we would not engage in their meetings and that the high-pressure tactics from showing up a bit tired was really un-cool. I will never stay at another Hilton because of this. Of course, they still charged me the $200 which was expected and the $40 to not attend their high-pressure time share. I wish we were told about this prior to our booking. Big fat never again!!!!

Room tip: THIS IS A TIMESHARE

Stayed there May 2023. I would have written this sooner, but I just found my notes. Our unit was small at the north end on the complex by the highway intersection. Although I'm generally a positive Hilton member, my stay was an unforgettable bizarrely bad experience. The unit was a disaster. Somebody really dropped the ball on this one. The Wi-fi was very spotty; the TV did not work - "no network connection"? No cell phone reception exception outside on the hill. No restaurant, bar, concession stands, or vending machines at the reception. The mattress was lumpy & had no support on the edge. The kitchen table was at chest height and rocked (short leg). The light over the table was too large & low, so you bumped your head when you stood up. The refrigerator door was missing a support for tall items. The shower had no grab bar, & the shower head had very high pressure like fire hose. What about water conservation in Arizona? The end of the shower panel seals had gaps. The closet door was off track. The closet clothes hanger bar was too short and seesawed. The USB plug in the right lamps was broken. The kitchen light had a dead bulb. The highway streetlight shines through the kitchen window at night. The kitchen needs a towel rack. Also, no hairdryer, no maid service; towels & garbage pickup are by request only. I think you get the picture. On top of this there was a surprise "vacation fee", we did not use the pool. I did not get my Hilton Points. Enjoy Sedona.

Room tip: Get a hotel in town.

We stayed here on a trip to relax and get away from the city, and we could not have been happier. The location on the edge of town was perfect for instant nature as soon as walking out the door, but still 5 minutes from a grocery store or restaurants. Once I understood the property was more like an apartment than a hotel, it made sense. I had called the front desk to ask someone to take the trash and when they left me empty bags I found the convenient large can outside. So I see how expectations could lead to confusion. Desk service was always very helpful and friendly and accommodating, but I think communicating this distinction in property type could go a long way.
Facilities were lovely and well maintained, and frequent text communication during our stay was also appreciated. I’ve seen reviews about “pressure for time share presentation” and we had zero experience with that. Will definitely return here!
