This would be good if you were a total novice. If you have looked thru backyard telescopes before and gone to a star party or two save your money.Hour and a half drawn out program on star chart and average star viewing thru telescope (surprising considering all the ones on the mountain). The views from are amazing as the drive up was during the day.Going back down the mountain at 10 at nite after ho hum experience was tiring not to mention the drive back to Tucson.Save your money and purchase your own telescope and go to a local star party ,you will have a better experience.

Had we gotten there earlier in the day, or been able to stay, I would have given this 5 stars. We came with an hour left to closing and there wasn’t much left open. BUT just walking around in the peace and serenity being able to see the telescope silos up close, the one we saw, the visitor center, AND THE VIEWS on the way up was worth it! They did have an evening program, but we couldn’t stay. I’m sure it was first class and very educational. Now that I know they offer them, I will look for one if I get back that way!

Kitty Peak is the place to visit if your in Tuscon! The staff were very helpful and friendly, and the information the fed us was interesting, gripping and very useful!

In the observatory you can see all the 8 planets of our Solar System, and look out at the stars!

But be sure to where thick clothing when you visit!

We took the guided tour with a guide named Penelope who was informative without being too technical to understand.

My partner and I went not knowing what to expect and it was amazing. 12 telescopes here- more than anywhere else in the world! The 4 ML Mayall telescope has a less similar to the Hubble telescope. I recommend booking at least a week in advance if you want to do the night sky experience. The park closes at 4:30 so the only way to see the sunset and do the night program is to register in advance. The views are spectacular. There's no food up here except a snack machine so pack a lunch. Great gift shop. Bought a neat payer of the "Ghost Nebula" taken by the Mayall. Docents hat have us the tour was a retired radiologist from the Mayo Clinic and very knowledgeable!
