Our bad experience, is a string of bad experiences at this particular Colton's restaurant.

This trip was prompted by $40 of coupons sent by mail. $10 off $30 coupons, they must be desperate for business. We had completely quit going to this restaurant because the service is always poor. This place is the burger-king of steakhouses. They have a high employee turnover rate to start with.

We asked to be seated on the "porch" and were declined due to lack of a server. The restaurant was empty on a Sunday at 4:15pm, instead We were seated near the bathroom.

We started our order with egg rolls (southwest rolls) and drinks. Our drinks were delivered along with bread. We then placed an order for the Hawaiian Rib-eye and the Bacon Cheeseburger (Cheddar) because Colton's refuses to carry AMERICAN cheese to make a proper cheeseburger.

The egg rolls and my burger arrive. No time to eat the appetizer. My partners Hawaiian Rib-eye arrives about 5 minutes later. My burger is burnt and carbonized, which is a bad taste. My fries were supposed to be steak fries, they were left over culls and crap which were over-cooked. My partners Hawaiian Rib-eye was ordered medium, it was also burnt and carbonized. the carbonized taste overruled the pineapple and meat flavors.

Our waitress came by and my partner told her how bad the food was and she started crying. (poor kid, wasn't her fault). She got her manager, the manager took about 15 minutes to come see us, meanwhile our meal is at a standstill. The manager then offered to replace the order and by that time we were disgusted and ready to go.

She offered to give us 30% off our ticket, which was just insulting. We took it and left. No sense in negotiating the price of a bad meal.

Obviously this restaurant has issues which start at the top and rain down. Instead of trying to negotiate the price of bad service they should have tried to retain the customer with a full or partial discount available on the next visit.

I cannot recommend this restaurant at all.

We left a standard tip for the waitress because she stated it was her second day.

Passing through the town of Batesville with friends after Easter Sunday church services, we were pleased to find this Colton's open. Surprisingly, it was not very crowded, and we were seated immediately. Rarely have I experienced a time when an entire party was dissatisfied with their meals . . . and it began with disappointing rolls. Our friends frequent a Colton's in their home town, and noticed immediately the usually light, generously buttered yeast rolls were not served this day; rather, our rolls were small, dense, few in number, with a 'warmed over' taste and an easy-to-resist appearance. Moving on to the entrees, my friend's potato soup was super thick (fell off the spoon in blobs), not at all like what she has ordered many times at other Colton's locations. Her husband's baked potato was under-cooked. Ordering the friend shrimp dinner, my husband assumed it came with a potato, so he ordered a Caeser salad to accompany the meal. The salad was modest but acceptable; however, the shrimp arrived 'solo' on the plate. Good flavor, but disappointing appearance - no accompanying side, or any attempt to attractively present the entree. While the steak strips topping my salad were perfectly cooked to order (medium rare), the salad itself was modestly prepared. Our server was nice enough, but service average, at best. And then there was the smell outside the restaurant - noticeably strong before we ate, but disgustingly rank as we walked to our car. The restaurant apparently sits across the street from a chicken processing plant, but I would have sworn it was down wind from a field of chicken houses. We've only been to Colton's a couple of times (first time at this one), and each time we've been disappointed. Maybe it's just bad luck on our part. Sad though, as the menu options are appealing.

The server was initially very attentive. I ordered ribs. the ribs were good, but clearly warmed over and not uniformly. The server lost his attention span as I asked for some wet-naps, he left saying he would get them, had to ask again 10 minutes later when he showed up, Punished with a small tip.

Colton's is an awesome play to take family, friends, and/or business associates. The food is fabulous and the service is excellent. The waiters and waitresses are very friendly and extremely attentive. Oh, and the food is delicious too. Steaks come out cooked to order and are always fresh and full of flavor. What more can a person ask for. Whenever we are in town for a few days, we always try to find time to stop in and get a great meal.

This Colton's is amazingly good! Where else can you get a $22 bone in ribeye that includes two sides. My ribeye was done to perfection, the service was excellent. The Caesar salad is surprisingly good as well. The sides are fresh, things such as green beans or asparagus. I have eaten and many Colton's across the country including at small-town such as Batesville. Believe me when I say this one is a shining example of everything that should be right.
