Bergi tops the list of restaurants in Borjomi as per TripAdvisor. However, there are far better choices available. Located opposite the bridge on the main street , it offers both indoor and outdoor seating. The interior is decorated with curios toys and stuffed animals. The staff looks harried and definitely non-smiling even though the restaurant was virtually empty. The English is very limited, so basically you order just by reading the poorly translated menu.
The food is nothing to write about, we have had better Georgian dishes elsewhere. Staff required to be reminded to complete the order.

Bergi, a restaurant with a taste of homely food. Yes, it doesn't seem we are having food at outside. We went there with our baby. The taste aroma and the texture was really good. We were in borjomi for days and e had our maximum meals at Bergi. We have tried there chicken and veg stew with warm shoty bread, they tasted great. Boiled eggs , sunny side and omelette made as per baby on our request. Barbeque chicken was good but felt a need for a dip. Mexican potatoes are a must try. Do try their butter, it's so wow. Mushroom soup , very light and easy on tummy. The good thing was the food was not heavy as it usually feels after eating out.
Many were ordering trout but we didn't try. We did try their cold coffee after reading a review, but we were disappointed. The brown bread we ordered was too chewy for our taste, so a no no.

The place feels nice and is clean. They gave us a free Georgian wine as their gesture to show love.

Based upon the many positive reviews we went to the Bergi on our first evening in Borjomi. While we didn't regret the visit there are better options.

We had the assorted Phkali appetizer plate, the khachapuri with spinach and the khachapuri ameruli. The phkalis lacked flavor, we had way better before. The khachapuri with spinach was good. Something was wrong about the khachapuri ameruli since the cheese wasn't liquid and instead we had to cut pieces, it tasted good anyways.

The service was a bit overwhelmed and generally rather slow. The staff doesn't speak English, but the menu is in English.

The interior reminded me of soviet times and additionally there are random stuffed animals all over the place. Not necessarily the place for a romantic dinner.

From the outside it looks more like a pub/bar than a restaurant. After scouting out the menu at the Inka Cafe earlier in the evening we opted for Bergi instead. A good choice.
The staff were friendly and the chicken stew accompanied by the Kachapuri skewer was excellent. The stuffed peppers also went down well too.
The price was a bonus too, very good value for money.
