A night in Kalambaka

Review of Hotel Kaikis
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 20 Nov 2023
We spent one night here during a two-day tour of Meteora. The room was small but comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. And the breakfast was outrageous! We were offered more food than we could have eaten in a week.

We stayed here on an overnight trip from Athens, in order to do an am tour of Meteora (Visit meteora 1/2 day tour). It's not far by foot from the train station, it's on the main road so lots of shops and restaurants nearby. We were able to check-in to our room a little bit early and then we spent the afternoon exploring Kalambaka by foot.
The hotel was clean and decently priced. Some of the rooms have a view of Meteora and others have a view of the other mountain range (can't remember the name).
Breakfast in the am was substantial and filling. They have a mix of Greek treats with yogurt, fruit, egg, bread, cheese, etc.
It's a very friendly, family run hotel. They let us store our luggage in the am while on our tour. Definitely recommend staying here and will stay here again if ever get back to Greece.

Kaikis Hotel was booked for us via a two day tour group (Greca tours) to Meteora and Delphi. It was perfect for our stay with dinner and breakfast included. Wonderful, warm and very friendly host who came around to make sure we had everything we needed. Breakfast spread was great and dinner was a delicious home cooked meal... Great Experience... highly recommend..

Room tip: Highly recommend..

A great little mid-range hotel in easy walking distance to restaurants, shops and tour companies. The staff were friendly and helpful. Despite visiting during peak season, the hotel was quiet and relaxing.

Hotel is very clean, staff friendly, location perfect. Ideal for what you want in this area, which is a nice place to sleep. Not a lot else going on here though. Very quiet! But the views are amazing. Breakfast was nice but not quite sustaining enough for me as a British person. Only €8 though!

Fantastic location with amazing views of Meteora. Zack was an outstanding host, going out of his way to pass on tips off how to get to the most rewarding places in the area. He appeared genuinely concerned that we should get the best out of our stay. There is an ample breakfast, convenient free parking nearby and lots of places to eat in the evening. The hotel is spotlessly clean. The only slight limitation is that the room we stayed in was rather small with three beds being squashed into a relatively tight space BUT there was a fantastic balcony with its amazing view. They space downstairs compared very favourably - lots of it. We mentioned this disparity as we were leaving and Zack explained they are aware of the issue and hoped to carry out some refurbishment in the near future to address the concern about small bedrooms. This should definitely not put anyone off staying at Hotel Kaikis. We really enjoyed our visit and, when visiting the area in the future, would go back there.
