Decor, staff and service were all good. Food was very good. Nice brown bread, Had the cod and veggies instead of fries and a tasteful chocolate dessert.

Whitehorses was recommended to us by locals as we were traveling through Waterford County in Southern Ireland. We had a great dining experience--really delicious, the best meal we had in Ireland. We shared an appetizer of grilled mussels with tomato, garlic, and bread crumbs--so tasty. All the ingredients are locally sourced, so very fresh. I would recommend the black sole, sea scallops, and filet as entreés. Save room for desserts --they're all on display. The banoffe pie is to die for! Staff is very friendly and accommodating too. Highly recommended.

We were delighted to be able to eat here to celebrate a birthday and so were at least 2 other tables. We have been visiting for 20 years and the food has been consistently good over this time. They do either half portions or a few options with chips for children. The mains are imaginative and tasty and the staff helpful and friendly. The desserts are great. The bread, veg and potatoes are readily topped up if needed.

I first visited Whitehorses a few years ago and had one of the best meals I have ever eaten. However my second experience was not at all pleasant.

We had booked a table and were seated immediately when we arrived and given menus. However it was over 20 minutes before our orders were taken and that's where things started to go wrong. Our orders were taken by a lady with red hair who had an absolutely appalling manner. She did not greet us and just gestured at the menu in my hands and said "Well?" to indicate she wanted to take our order. She was extremely abrupt and rude and made no effort to engage with us.

We then waited 40 minutes for our main courses. All of our steaks were over cooked however we did not want to wait another 40 minutes so we simply ate them. The food was of good quality and still tasty, despite the meat not being cooked as ordered. Once we had finished our main courses we waited nearly 30 minutes before our table was cleared.

We asked for a dessert menu and were told they were on display in the fridge so we went up for a look. We enquired of the same red haired lady as before as to what some of the desserts were and were met with a sigh as though we were a huge inconvenience to her. We ordered a few desserts from her and my sister in law asked if they were served with anything to which the lady snapped "cream and ice cream" and walked away. The desserts were lovely but we were left with a bitter taste in our mouths from the way we had been treated.

The restaurant was busy while we were there so it's understandable that the lady we dealt with may have been under pressure, however that is no reason for the rude manner in which she treated us. Simple phrases like hello, please and thank you only take seconds to say but would have vastly improved our experience. We have no intention of ever returning - the food does not make up for being treated so rudely.

Enjoyable meal. Attentive service from a few staff.
Excellent chowder. My wife did tell me don't order fish on a Sunday. Sole main was too buttered and arguably not that fresh.
Delicious vegetables. Pricey but quality.
