This is a really wonderful place, an eye opener onto Roman civilisation and the way of life in this part of Spain around 50BC to 100AD. The site is very sensitively laid out to allow visitors to get close to many of the funeral pits and in one of them be right up against wall painting from thousands of years ago. The museum is charming and the dispaly boards informative. The staff were great too. And all this for free!.Its a bit hard to find just off to the left as you enter Carmona from Seville and the entrance is opposite the more obvious Roman amphitheatre on the other side of the road. A great place to take older children and to bring the past to life for them

Overall this is a very interesting site and it's free entrance which makes it hard to complain. I would suggest a touch-up on the signs and the overall experience though. Now the graves are very interesting, but it could be an even nicer experience with some more explanation / interactivity (which I guess was there before but now not functioning anymore?)

Quite honestly, visiting a Roman burial site would not usually be at the top of my 'must visit' list, but this was a fascinating experience in every respect. Firstly, it's a great walk from the Parador through the town to reach the necropolis. Secondly, the excavations are quite extensive. Thirdly, the museum is very informative (and should be visited before walking around the site). But fourthly, do make sure you catch the film - a really charming piece of history detailing the story of the founding of the 19th century archeological society that was responsible for the excavations. We expected to spend a few minutes here and ended up taking a good hour and a half. Don't miss it!

Very informative and excellent museum and site...You feel the past unlike a lot of ruins where they just are..I actually had a sudden feeling of sadness at this burial ground as if the grief of a death had imprinted the particular corner of the site...Very nicely laid out path and a lot to see in about an hour...Carmona has seen Stone age indigenous people, Phoenicians, Carthage Romans, Moors and Goths. So much history..If you are into that type of thng go to Carmona..See this site..Makes you feel insignificant in the march of time...
