I have stayed at this hotel three times in the last nine months. That in itself says everything. The location is perfect- right on the beach with no road between. The staff are fantastic without exception- reception through to the restaurants. I was amazed how they all remembered me! The rooms are great and all have sea views. Great to hear the waves when you are going to sleep at night. The only slight anxiety I have is the management of the grill in the buffet restaurant- queues can build up especially for the fried eggs at breakfast times. I owned a house in Spain which I have sold and treat this hotel as my second home instead! An added advantage of its location is that you can take a train from the airport for 3 euros to Fuengirola station and then a brief taxi trip to the hotel. Also dead easy to use buses to Marbella (25 mins away and trains to Malaga and from there high speed services to the rest of Spain). No need to hire a car with all the parking problems of Spanish towns. I will be back this spring!

My friends and i booked to visit Malaga for a weekender. Whilst the hotel was chosen by the organisers who switched hotels at the last minute we were pleasantly impressed and wowed by the hotel and facilities. The room was clean with a safe and good size bathroom. There is a BP with a 24 hour cafe which can be reached by crossing the foot bridge and is good to have close by. The beach can be accessed via the back entrance with a half hour walk or less to shops, shesha bars, restaurants and night life. Cabs in groups are useful and cheaper but you can get to nearby clubs for around 10-23 euros. Sohail Castle is a castle in Fuengirola, Spain. It was built in AD 956 and is a stones throw away and a nice walk to go up to in the morning for those who feel to incorporate outdoor exercise in addition to the gym and spa in the hotel. A pleasant stay and would definately go back if i was to book again for a leisure trip.

Room Tip: A ground floor or sea facing view is lovely although far from reception and entrance the views are worth it

This is a genuine 4 star hotel rather than the touristy ones which seem to be given 4 stars. It is right at the south end of Fuengirola, beyond the castle, but you can be in the centre of town within a half hour's walk. Entertainment is very low key (piano player in the lobby bar several times a week) - if you want "holiday" entertainment, this is not the place for you. Although you are right next to a major road, you won't be disturbed by traffic noise, as all the rooms face the sea. The bedroom and bathroom are a good size, well furnished (although in the older style, going by the standard of finish, the rooms look as though they have been refurbished recently). Although the rooms are not automatically supplied with tea and coffee making facilities, if you ask for a kettle you also will be given cups, saucers and daily replacement of teas, coffees, etc all free of charge.
The food can sometimes be a bit lukewarm if lying in the servery (as is often the case in Spanish hotels) but there is a microwave if that bothers you. There is probably less of a selection in the ready prepared food but there is always a roast carved by one of the chefs. Also, there is a greater choice of food at the cooking stations (generally 2 different meats and 1 or 2 different fish) both of which vary from night to night. If you haven't pre-booked any meals, breakfast will cost you 12 Euros per person and dinner 22 Euros per person. (By the way room safe costs 2.30 Euros a day, operated by your room key, once authorised.)
The staff are all very professional (which may initially make them seem stand-offish) but once you make the first move and speak to them, they are all extremely helpful and friendly (some are better at English than others, but they appreciate it if you try to speak Spanish, even if only a little).
We had the misfortune to be subject to a violent attempted robbery where my wife and her bag were dragged along the footbridge near the castle resulting in some pretty severe injuries to my wife. I can't thank the hotel (or the local Jet2 staff) enough for the attention and treatment we were given subsequently. The hotel even had a wheelchair which we were allowed to use (again free of charge) and we were constantly contacted to enquire whether there was anything we needed. It's in times of problems that some people really step up to the mark and, in that regard, you will not get better!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on 3rd floor or higher to get the best of the sea-view.
