I have been twice before and booked to visit with my friend last June. Obviously Covid put plans on hold and we eventually had our break this month, November. My friend had not been before and I said some things would be different. Room and entertainment were super, however I did not understand why we couldn't pre book our seats. There was no distancing between tables and it was left to individuals to space out if they wanted. Once seated masks could be removed and on the dance floor too. It was pretty crowded as band was great.
Breakfast was a mix of help yourself or certain dishes from the kitchen which waiter brought. The buffet had all people using same tongs, spoons etc. However at night everything was brought by waiter and the portions were so big. Some folk would be very happy, but there was much waste. Better idea to revert to buffets as before or offer small or standard portions. To minimise number of people in dining room we had to pre book times but were always at same table, so seemed pointless. We knew menu would be smaller than before but choices not so good and not being able to try little bits or mix and match salads etc was disappointing. That said allstsff worked very hard and I hope when situation improves that the old system will return.

We have visited Littlecote before, although a few years ago. I’m pleased to say it has got better since our last trip. The room was spotless and well set out. All of the staff were wonderful and very pleasant, nothing is too much trouble. Our serving staff, Adam and Janek were both excellent, very very good to be honest. The Roman Ruins, especially the Mosaics are worth the trip on their own. We did the archery (Henry) and Shooting (Harvey) and again it was a wonderful experience. Both of these guys were very patient and humorous. We did the Coach trip (Barnes’ Coaches) to Winchester Xmas Market, where we were entertained by Chrissy and Driver Richard. Again wonderful. Speaking of Entertainment, what a week. Sahara Blue we’re brilliant, we remembered them being good on our earlier visits, but they are really excellent now. The gorgeous Italian lady, Mariana adds another dimension to their act. The In house entertainment team made my week with their performance of Bohemian Rock culminating in a very special rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody. Fantastic - well done all of you. Uche Eke was fabulous. I’m not a great fan of Soul or Motown music, but this guy I could listen to ‘all night long’ A really wonderful holiday and we’ve already booked for next year.

Room tip: Signature rooms are best

Littlecote House was excellent for a three-night break, starting with the ingenious idea of checking in from your car - thus no queuing at the indoor reception. The entertainment singing was outstanding, the in-house cast as good as the main artists Benjamin Moss and Waterloo Live (Abba tribute) who were both excellent. Very good menu at breakfast and dinner.

Now two quirky things which by no means every hotel offers but which pleased me greatly:
1) There was a hook on the back of the bathroom door.
Even better:
2) Fully paid vouchers were accepted for my Times and Sunday Times newspapers. Fantastic, because visiting the nearest newsagent would have required a car drive and I'm far too tight to pay again for a newspaper I already have a voucher for.

Well done, Warner's.

Interesting old building needing lots of TLC, the new buildings are of a good standard and very comfortable.
Our room was in the old house, the Staurt Suite. Four poster bed, settee and arm chairs plus mini fridge. The chest of drawers, dressing table and wardrobe looked a little out of place and time - older, larger furntire would have looked more appropriate.
Restaurant and staff were excellent as was the food for this kind of venue.
The evening entertainment was a bit mixed in quality and the Abba evening was spoilt for us by being so load we had to leave.
Not many activities to book, perhaps because of time of year, and I know a number of people were disappointed they coldn't book their chosen activities - so book them early!
Overall we were a little disappointed with the weekend but maybe our expectations were set a little too high.

Room tip: Rooms in old house are quiter and larger than others but necesssitate walking outside to restaurant etc.

This huge Elizabethan country house hotel was a pleasure to visit from start to finish. Welcoming staff, beautiful rooms, amazing food and evening entertainment thrown in too. The hotel and grounds are very well maintained, spacious and are kept spotlessly clean. Highly recommended.
