On a quiet sunny March day, while my wife was enjoying the swimming pool and the spa facilities, I had a pleasant and relaxing time sitting in a comfortable chair in the large lounge reading a good book and enjoying the magnificent view across a golf course and out to sea.
This was followed by a pleasant afternoon tea which was very enjoyable.
However, the chairs in the small area where the teas were being served were, frankly, tired and showing a lot of wear. They were also too low in relation to the table.
Service from the younger members of staff was patchy, with long waits. The senior staff were very much on the ball and things improved markedly once they became involved.
The main car park is a short distance away, directly opposite the hotel entrance and across the quiet road. There is a limited number of disabled parking spaces outside the front door, in a fairly narrow access road. These spaces are really too small. They are close against a hedge which, if you park within the marked space, prevents use of the car doors on one side.
The welcome from the hotel staff was warm and despite the minor criticisms above we enjoyed our visit.

I took a friend for an overnight stay to celebrate her 80fh birthday. I could no5 find faulty in any aspect of ou stay. Lovely welcome by reception staff who were extremely helpful. Rooms were exceptionally nice and very comfortable. For cleanliness it was top marks. Absolutely spotless. A nice touch was a knock at my friend’s door with chocolates and a birthday card which was very thoughtful and obviously had been noted when I booked. Bar staff were on the ball and efficient when serving coffees and drinks. As for the restaurant the dinner was superb, the setting was beautiful and the food and presentation were. really second to none. The attention to detail was extra special. It goes without saying the restaurant staff were really pleasant and helpful and clearly well trained. There was a vast menu for breakfast and both the fresh fruit etc on offer and the hot menu were excellent. We had a wonderful stay and will certainly return but next time for longer. My only query is wh6 is this Hotel not rated 5 star? It surpasses many 5 star hotels I have stayed in. Top marks in all areas

Just returned from a stay at the above hotel. First class. Staff were the friendliest of any hotel we've visited. Food was delicious, room lovely and location perfect. We would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: As for a Sea view

Starting on a positive note the hotel location and ambience are great, Fraser in reception was attentive, staff in bar/lounge were great and housekeeping excellent. While the food in the restaurant was good the service was like being in Fawlty Towers but without Basil and Sybil!
We were with three other couples and had booked dinner for 8pm. We arrived slightly after 8 to confused looks from staff. Were shown to table and then left for 45minutes before we had to go and get menus brought. No one asked to take a drinks order and no one offered to bring water or bread to the table. Eventually the manager came to serve us "personally" and took our wine order and then our food order and then disappeared to arrive back at the table with the wine, pouring red when my wife asked for white and bringing bread just as the first courses arrived. He then was never seen again!! One of our party did not get his main course as it had not been ordered in the kitchen but it did come some ten minutes after the rest of us had almost finished our main courses. We had to ask staff to serve on two further occasions with Amar serving us with our sweets by himself as everyone else seemed to have vanished, At 10.30pm we left the dining room ready for a drink!!
Breakfast on both mornings of our stay were not too bad but again poor service was high on the agenda. We had also booked a cream tea as part of our package and arranged a time etc to find our table partially set with no cutlery, no butter and no milk. So when the cream tea arrived we had to request all three before we could enjoy our cream tea.
The hotel rooms have been refurbished and 217 & 219 had nice views over the links to the river and the Fife coast.
As said at the beginning the hotel is badly let down by the lack of service and civility in the restaurant. There appears to be no structure and no guidance for staff with most of the young staff looking as if they were scared of their own shadow!
As a party we had thought to make this a regular annual get together but that is not likely to happen which is a great pity.
Oh by the way if you are having the set menu check your bill closely before check out as the restaurant tried to charge us £155.00 for "extras" we did not have!! Be warned!

Room Tip: go for second floor sea views if possible
