On our annual Padstow trip we had booked a table 2 months ahead as it was Obby Oss weekend .The table was ready and waiting and the bar manic .Service was excellent , beer on top form ,and the fish pies we both had full of white fish , prawns and delicious creamy mash ,and substantial !If you appreciate a good pub, good pub food and a lively atmosphere this is a must .Keep up the good work.

I spent last week in Padstow with my grown up children and have to say the food here is the best in quality and value for money we had. We have eaten at the Golden Lion in previous years and it has always been excellent. Between us during our visits we tried the fish and chips, the fish pie , the risotto , the burger and the fish specials , everything was perfect. The bar is lovely and cosy and the staff excellent. We did visit all of the other pubs in Padstow during our week but the Golden lion remained our favourite. We will be back without doubt.

We have just spent the best New Year's Eve at the golden lion in padstow as we've had in years, the rooms are above the pub, yeah you can hear it but it's not loud enough to keep you awake, the rooms are well appointed, comfy bed, very necessary after seeing the new year in and suffering New Year's Day!!! Coffee/tea maker, tv. The breakfasts were great, wished I was well enough to have the full English, however the rest we had was brilliant, plenty of it and good local produce.
The hosts, Martin and Sara are the best you can hope for, they and their staff go out of their way to make you're stay as good as it can be, the bar is the best in padstow IMO, we went in em all, several times, can't comment on the evening food as it was booked solid, so draw you're own conclusion there!!
Would we recommend to our family and friends? YES
Would I rebook for a return? YES
Would I book another place in padstow? NO

Fantastic pub with an amazing little beer yard with heaters - cosy inside but if wanting food you need to book. Food was absolutely amazing as was the beer - can't wait to return. Staff are really friendly too :)
