“Comfortable and characterful cottage in an excellent location”
Reviewed 17 April 2018 for a stay in April 2018

The cottage is located in a pleasant village within easy walking distance of a convenient shop, pub with restaurant and chip shop. Dartmoor is a gentle walk up the lane from the cottage and is a very good base for touring West Dartmoor, Plymouth, the Tamar valley, the Tavy valleys and the local market towns. Maxine the owner was very friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we hope to visit again.

“Beautifully positioned and unique property”
Reviewed 24 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

Got a little lost initially but that was my fault, just remember to turn left when you get over the bridge at the bottom of the hill. Stayed many times in the area of tavistock and this is close enough to dartmoor for touring and exploring. The old school house has been thoughtfully and well presented. Very clean and the beds were so comfortable. We were told about the heavy fire doors on arrival and they are there for our protection and caused no problem. Internet access is available but can be sketchy. Everything needed for a comfortable and pleasant visit, would not hesitate to return and would recommend this to friends. Excellent property and helpful host.

“Really lovely cottage”

We stayed here over the half-term holiday this October. The cottage was everything we could have hoped for - comfortable, warm, clean, quiet and with all the facilities we needed. Maxine gave us some suggestions of places we could visit locally - we did Lydford Gorge, Morwellam Quay and Lanhydrock. Thoroughly enjoyed it all. Visited the local pub for our first evening meal (The London Inn) and the food was excellent. Stocked up at the supermarket in nearby Tavistock for the rest of the week. Usually don't sleep so well on the first night of staying somewhere new but the bed was so comfortable I had no problems here. We really didn't want to go home and the kids want to book up for next year.

We loved the old world look, but the very modern and comfortable interio. We enjoyed exploring that part of England.

Liked best: We loved the cottage, the location and getting to know that part of England.
Liked least: Perhaps the weather could have been more summery.

“Quiet and comfortable”
Reviewed 12 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

We wanted a place near to Plymouth and Tavistock with WiFi, and pet free. This fitted the bill. The rooms are nicely furnished and a properly equiped kitchen. The garden could be accessed by walking around the house, but unfortunately the weather did not let us sit outside.

The house was kept nice and warm, though hot water in the taps would take 2 to 3 minutes to arrive. Fortunately there is an electric shower that heated up quickly.

The house was spotlessly clean and the WiFi generally OK - slightly affected by thick walls.

There are fire doors throughout the house that have rather firm closing actions - it would not be easy to leave a bedroom door open you had children.

Everything was very quiet, day an night. We enjoyed our stay.
