Rockells Farm
Reviewed 1 November 2009

The hosts were extremely nice on my stay at Rockells farm, the house is in a brilliant location on a working farm, i really enjoyed my stay here and enjoyed beautiful walks in the area, It was a great base for trips to both London and Cambridge as Audley End station is only minutes away. There is a fishing lake on site which is absolutely wonderful to walk around and footpaths links within metres of the house. The lake I presume could be accessed for fishing if wanted but we did not need this function. We used the local golf course for both a round of golf and a meal during our stay, the golf course is beautiful and the meal also. Apparently there are also more in the area but we did not care to travel to these. I would recommend this to anyone as it is a beautiful location in a beautiful old farm house.

Having been informed by the tourist board that the 4 star B+B was lovely, we booked for the weekend in order to see friends in the area. We had a limited choice due to late booking.
On arrival, no offer was made to help me with my bags, i was just asked whether i wanted milk?!!!
I was shown to the room, that was cold and full of old furniture. In the drawers there were clothes belonging to the owner, a tray for making coffee, but the mugs had not been washed and dirt could be scratched off.
We were told breakfast was from 8-9am and that was it, no enjoy your stay etc.
We knew at the time of booking that we would have the bathroom opposite the room, however the room was cold, no heating and the electric shower provided the only heat!
The following morning breakfast was served, no mention on what was on offer, we had to say what we wanted. However the breakfast was in fairness good.
On the last morning we turned up for breakfast at 8.20, to find that the owner (cook) was going to play golf, if we had of turned up at any later than that then breakfast would have been over, no mention of this the day before, the owners wer not visible at all the previous day.
Overall, unfriendly and poor service, generally a terrible example of a B+B.
