didn't really know what to expect when we went here, but given we were staying just up the road we thought we'd have a look, free guided tour of how the tanning process works which was very interesting then you have look in the shop, I didn't know there was so many different breeds of sheep, there's lots of amazing products in that shop, pictures on the website don't do it justice you need to see it
great hour of our time

What a wonderful experience touring the Skyeskyns factory was! We had an excellent tour and all parts of their jobs were discussed and demonstrated. Our guide had a quick wit and was so informative & pleasant. A great experience & one I highly recommend!

At last- something not made in China!!! ``Skyeskyns" is a traditional workplace that produces sheepskins straight from the sheep and puts them through a series of fascinating processes that end in a product that is first rate. The skins are beautiful and are made into rugs, gloves, slippers and a host of other things. - you can even have bespoke items, too, The beauty of it is that you can be treated to a conducted tour of the small factory, learn all about the age-old process and marvel at the conditions under which, in the past, these sheepskins were transformed in things of beauty. Kids will love to see this process - and Mum and Dad can learn, too!
Bet sure and see all this - it's well worth a couple of hours of your time.

We made a stop in at Skyeskyns during our visit to Skye and had a great little tour of the workshops where we learned the process they use for making their amazing skins. The gallery was great as well and a perfect spot to grab a reasonably priced gift for someone or yourself. Don't miss the "seconds" pile near the door to the right - we grabbed a great skin for a fraction of the price.

Many thanks for coming to see us in Waternish. Our 'seconds' pile is often very popular as the imperfections can be minimal. We hope you enjoy your sheepskin memento for years to come. Best wishes, the team
