My self and my wife got married here back on April 10th 2022 and what can I say.

It was honestly the second best day of my life (the best being the brith of my daughter on 15/06/22)
And honestly Lilly (wedding co-ordinator) was the best! She was the nicest and kindest person that we have ever met, she was super helpful and couldn't of asked for a better co-ordinator! Super helpful and attentive! Highly recommended.

The rest of the staff were jist as attentive and helpfull, anything we needed they got straight on to!

But.

Jonathan. Where to start with this guy! He genuinely made the whole day 1000% better just by his attention to detail and overall kindness! He was there for the full day and no matter what he always had the biggest smile on his face and catered to my heavily pregnant wife's needs and nothing was to much trouble! He honestly was amazing! I would recommend this venue just because of him and lilly!

Such a beautiful venue and super helpful!

Stayed for 2 nights recently for a family wedding and also had our dogs; we stayed in the family cottage which slept 4. Cottage was compact but had everything you needed for a short stay. Plenty of room and comfortable beds too. The only downside was the lighting, which wasn't brilliant, and also lack of sockets in one of the bedrooms. All staff members worked tirelessly and were always friendly & happy to chat. Special mention has to go to Kasha, who, on the day of the actual wedding seemed to be working morning, noon & night...always with a smile and nothing too much trouble! She is a certainly a credit to the team. Another mention goes to GM Jonathan, who provided us with enough titbits to feed our dogs for a couple of days! They were certainly very happy and would love to visit again! Jonathan was always happy to chat, very friendly and nothing too much trouble. The venue is beautiful, great location and we'd love to visit again soon. Thank you :-)

I’m rating your hotel below .. we came to a wedding (that was knockout.. venue, team & food we’re simply amazing… whole even was first class).

Accommodation does need some updating. Broken socket in room, grouting around the bath, no bath mat.. small wardrobe (couldn’t hang dress).. and it was warm.. I am glad we were not staying for a hot, summer wedding or getting ready would have been like a sauna.. maybe aircon is needed, windows don’t give enough air in room. Your team are lovely.. it’s a shame there is a surcharge for cooked breakfast.. I would suggest to include this.. we didn’t bother with breakfast on our second morning due to this.

I do wish your overall venue well.. it’s been a tough few years. Your location, wedding venue and team do your justice

Room tip: Cook breakfast surcharge..

We visited yesterday. We had rooms 400 and 401

To sum up this visit I’d say….I feel sad for the building and sad for the owners!

Hotels don’t have to be posh, as in, have lots of fancy things they need great basics, such as, cleanliness, places for guests to adequately store their clothes if needed and functioning amenities. I feel very sad that this beautiful very old building has not got these. I feel sad that the owners have such huge potential in their hands for an awesome hotel and they have not realised it.

I’d be super happy to not say anymore on trip advisor as I feel this to be unfair to the potential and speak directly via email to the owners instead. Guys you have awesome potential in your hands please don’t let that go.

Thank you so much for your review , and only wish you would have let us know about our failings, as we live here and after the nearly the last thirty years ,coupled with the pandemic crisis things sadly slip ,but we are on a massive drive to again light the hotel and get there again.Wishing you a lovely year - Thank you

You can not but be impressed the second you arrive, it's a beautiful building. We were a group of three families, ten in all. Adults, teenagers and young children. We arrived for Sunday lunch and received a warm greeting by the staff. Drinks in the patio to start which was wonderful, a real sun-trap before moving to a private function room for our meal. We all had the three course meal, everyone having different meats. Clean plates by all! Following a break we ventured to the pool. The children (big and small) loved it, the area and water nice and warm. The rooms were spacious and clean and all slept well. The breakfast, a combination of continental and cooked was beautiful. Clean plates once again. The staff at all times were attentive and very polite. To finish off a great stay the resident peacock decided to show off it's plumage, a lovely send off. We would definitely stay here again.
