Hotels in Caracas are generally expensive so this review is very much in context with that. The hotel is comfortable and the room was large, however it was a little 'tired' and in much need of refurbishment.
The public areas are great and the service is very good there also, however the room could be much improved with a little attention such as fixing damaged furniture. Also the mini-bar was empty with a note that if I wanted one, it would be stocked. No problem I guess, but at this level should you have to request your mini-bar to be filled?
I ordered room service one evening (a simple pizza) to be called back 40mins later that the ovens were u/s and did I want something else. Not great really.
Don't get me wrong, this is a good hotel and the service friendly but I think it is fighting a little above its weight in the term of luxury service.

Thank you for your review. We apologize for any inconvenience you might have experienced. We would like to mention that we have been renewing our accommodations and have already upgraded all of the television and have installed signature bedding throughout the hotel. We are continuing the renovations as needed. As it relates to the minibars, yes we have removed all the alcohol in the minibar due to the fact that liquor imports into the country have become rather difficult to obtain. We still offer in room liquor upon request and also offer a full service bar in the lobby.

We stayed for 7 days, 6 nights, splitting our stay in two: 3 nights in a VIP room and 3 nights in a junior suite. I have to say, I'm quite surprised and disappointed at other reviewers who have said anything less than fantastic about this hotel -you guys made me almost not stay here! We couldn't be happier with our choice. The service was excellent, the rooms spacious, refined, stylish and on the luxurious side. The gym is phenomenal.

The location, I'd say, is the best for Caracas. You're close-by the business and financial district, near Las Mercedes, not far from the center, and close to anything and everything there is to visit and see in Caracas. We stopped by the JW Marriott as well as the Embassy Suites and, I have to tell you, we enjoyed Lidotel much better.

The only bad thing, if anything, is their lack of a pool. But you have a great gym and spa, a shopping mall, as well as some great restaurants nearby.

TIPS: (1) given the location, room rates are cheaper on the weekend than on the week; (2) try the breakfast buffett -fantastic! (3) Don't book online but by email should you decide (and there[s no reason to do otherwise unless you're crazy) to pay in Bolivars at check out: otherwise you'll get charged in your card the rate in bolivars but at the official exchange rate: (4) careful with the hotel taxis: they DO overprice their fares.

Real Quality hotel, spacious rooms, very confortables pillows, bath amennities and so on, but I can't saw a "boutique style" on it.

Helpful staff at the lobby.
The restaurant is at the 15th floor, but the elevators reach only at the 14th, so take stairs; a little difficult for disables and senior people.
Real slow to take and serve orders, while attending only four tables.

It could be the Venezuelan economy, but I think that the fares are too much expensive if you compare with other similar hotels.

Without prior reservations is very difficult to get a room, beware of that, really.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a good review on the LIDOTEL Centro Lido Caracas. We appreciate your comments and feedback.

The hotel does have a classic decor, unlike our other hotels which offer a more modern avante-garde design element. We have recently upgraded the bedding in all of our guestrooms and suites along with the televisions, etc. We continuously strive to improve our accommodations and public spaces and we will take your suggestions into consideration.

Due to currency control measures and inflation, it may seem that the hotel prices are high in Caracas. You can always assume that if it costs you one dollar in the US it will cost you two or three dollars in Venezuela. This is also the case with everyday goods and merchandise throughout the country. With this in mind, we do feel that our hotel is fairly priced for the market.

I stayed over a period of 4 years many times in this hotel.
The suites are really huge and classic. Everything what you need as a business person you will find here.
You have your office with all your needs. Several tv's in several rooms.
Bath room which is also excellent.
And this hotel is really central in Caracas. So good restaurants and bars are on walking distance.

This hotel is an excellent choice for business and leisure travelers. I’ve been traveling to Caracas (and many parts of Latin America) for many years and have stayed in various hotels - the Lido hotel is by far the best option. I always stay there. It’s located in a safe area with restaurants at very short distances. Also locals recognize the area so it’s simple to coordinate meetings. Also, the hotel has a great breakfast on their restaurant located on the top floor, which provides a great view of Caracas. You can choose to eat light or have the delicious typical Venezuelan “arepas”…whatever you want, they have.

The staff is wonderful and very helpful. The hotel management is the best. The rooms are large and clean. The air conditioning always works perfectly and the wifi coverage and speed is effective. The gym is one of the best I’ve seen in Latin America. GREAT setup, lots of equipment, and a trainer on staff.

For your security in Caracas, do not take taxis unless provided by the hotel (or restaurant). If you do not have a trusted transportation provider, the Lido hotel has many authorized taxis; you want to be sure to only use them. Also, avoid or minimize the amount of visible jewelry and electronics. It would be best to not walk the streets in the evening unless you are in a very large group or are absolutely sure of where you are going.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms known for good wifi coverage. Also, you may consider asking for a room with an "outside" view.
