Spent two incredible nights in these wonderful rooms, just enjoying the grounds. The cabins are all built from aged wood in the traditional style- some of the most authentic architecture we saw during our visit to India! You could almost spend your whole time studying the buildings.
It was easy enough to walk to the beach, but we found ourselves lounging happily in the chairs around the cabins. It was a welcome respite from hectic India. Best of all was the kitchen: the chef(s) had whatever we wanted, which in our case was authentic Kerala food.
Well worth a visit just to see the place, never mind the food and beaches.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- Heritage Marari, a boutique resort with four traditionally built Keralian houses (Tharawad, restored and recreated) located ten minutes from Marari beach. The rooms have beds and furniture that we've sourced from traditional homes and the famed craftsmen of the region. Furnishings too rely on local materials, offset with linen, rough-woven cotton and other natural fabrics. Our promise is to provide as much care, comfort and peace you would get in a star-rated hotel, with the personal and sociable touch that is synonymous with Home Stays. Your host Bruce is always available to help you settle comfortably in your rooms. Being a local from a well respected family, he brings you tales of the bygone generations and can guide you through the soul of this fishermen's village called Marari.
