Nakamanda was a 'saviour' for our holiday. There was an unusual storm (according to locals) when we arrived and it poured like crazy for 3 out of the 4 days we were in Krabi. On top of that, we went during the low season which meant many of the regular haunts were closed.
The resort is beautiful. We stayed in the Sala Villa and it gave us a lot of privacy. Ask for the Sala Villas that are not on the ground floor for more privacy. But be prepared to walk the stairs. Good shower, his & hers bathroom sinks & wardrobe. Bed was a little bit on the hard side, but other than that, we had a good sleep.
The entire resort is built on a hill side, hence there are loads of steps. It's not a great place for children & old people - many stairs and sharp edges.
There isn't much of a beach. During high tide, the water comes right up to the edge of the resort. During low tide, you can walk out about 500m or so and you can have some fun with hermit crabs ad walk to another beach. There are also loads of rocks.
The pool is lovely. We spent a lot of time in the pool despite the rain and had a good time. On our last day it was really sunny and the pool & its surrounding became an even nicer place to lounge and relax. At night, you can sit on the deck and enjoy the cool night breeze. Beautiful!
The restaurant called The Kitchen is great. Good food at very affordable prices - not typical hotel prices. So naturally we ate a lot. This applies to room services as well.
The staff throughout the hotel were very friendly and helpful. Sid, the driver is the man to take you places. BTW, the hotel transportation costs are also very reasonable especially if you're traveling with a group (there were four couples in our group).
Personally, I didn't try the spa but my friends did and they enjoyed it. The prices are again very reasonable - not typical hotel prices.
So all-in-all, despite the freak storm, we had a great time, thanks to this wonderful resort.
