I had an awesome time at The Reserve Paradisus Palma Real. The room and view was unbelievable. From the private pool to the hot tub, the spa, the food. Everything was amazing. The service and hospitality was second to none. This was such a treat after waiting two years of pandemic to venture into a vacation.

Room tip: I can’t think of anything. There’s plenty of parking and different amenities.

My wife and I stayed at the Reserve at Paradisus Palma Real August 20, 2022 to August 27, 2022. Check in went smoothly. No issues. We were assigned room 5325( Building 5, 3rd floor, room 25). Except for the lack of an elevator the room was perfect. We had nobody above us. Our unit was a corner unit and we bordered the Reserve and the Grand Cana, making access to both resorts a breeze. The room was clean and spacious with a large balcony, ideal for enjoying a morning coffee or unwinding at the end of the day. The Reserve is small and easily navigable, with lush vegetation and a nice pool. We thought the pool bar to be in a bad location, tucked away from the main pool area. We never had a problem getting a bed or a lounger and the staff was very cordial, personable and accommodating. It always seemed to be empty. We didn't have any issues getting drinks, though. The Grand Cana was open with no real shade, but a great pool and pool bar was packed and had a great vibe.
Eliezar was assigned as our concierge and he did a great job. Just bear in mind, you are not the only group being served by your concierge. Each concierge, i understand, services several parties at the same time.
Getting in to the Ala Carte restaurants was no problem. We were flexible and told Eliezar just to book us and let us know when and where we were eating and that would be fine with us. Our only stipulation was that we didn't want to eat in the same restaurant twice. We wanted to try different ones.
As for the food, all of the ala cartes were great, food and staff. We ate at Hydro Grill. A steak house that also did very good lunch service, located next to the Reserve pool. We did the hibachi at Mizu. The portions we big, varied and tasted excellent. Aqua, a Mediterranean restaurant, was also excellent and we really liked our waitress. She was personable, friendly helpful and also helped us work on our Spanish. We also ate at Mangu, at Grand Cana. Our last night was our anniversary, so we did the beachside, moonlight dinner(additional cost). It was very romantic and we really enjoyed it. The food was top notch, the staff extremely attentive and they made our anniversary experience special, including an unexpected anniversary cake on top of the abundant food and beverages provided.
We did the presentation they offer, but did not purchase. Our sales rep was very nice and personable and we liked him, however, we found the sales manager, Juan, to be a bit pushy. It was ultimately worth the time spent, though, because we got $100 off the beach dinner.
As for the buffet, we were not impressed. The food was luke warm. We tried room service for breakfast one morning, due to an early excursion and were quite dissatisfied. Although it arrived in plenty of time and they called ahead, the food was cold and, with no microwave in the room, there was no means y which to warm it. We were not happy about that.
One complaint I have is the gate staff. We booked several excursions prior to leaving for Punta Cana. None of them were allowed to enter the resort to pick us up and we had to get shuttled to the gate to meet them. The first day, we were not advised of the turn away until we called and asked the company where they were and they told us the were not allowed in. Luckily, they came back for us and we met them outside the resort gate A call from gate to desk staff could have alleviated the problem and they would have been made aware that they were legitimately picking up guests. I rectified this with the next two excursions by reaching out to them and advising them to call me if any issues arose. Neither were let in and they met us outside the gate as well. I understand security, but, if that was the issue, why did they let the same people in to return us to the front desk?
We went to the beach twice. A short cart ride. The beach was nice, overall, and the staff attentive. There was some seaweed issues, but we can't fault the resort for that. They had crews working constantly to keep as much of it at bay as possible. That's nature. No big deal. They have food trucks at the beach, as well as a beach bar. The food served at the trucks was very good and the beach staff made frequent rounds to ensure you had ample food and drink. Most of the time, we just went up ourselves. There are also several people hawking their wares on the beach. If you give them a firm no, they will leave you be.

All in all, aside from the gate/excursion issue and the overzealous sales manager, the stay was great and exceeded our expectations. I would certainly recommend this resort.

This resort was actually closed due to renovation, so we stayed at the Reserve and were granted access to the Grand Cana which was their newest and high end property. The food and activities were clearly on a different level. I would encourage folks to stay at the Grand Cana if possible.

Something for everyone! We booked at the The Reserve portion of this hotel. Our overall experience was GREAT (even with a few bumps in the road)! Our family values service and overall attitude of those you might encounter. Marielisa made the check-in process so easy and was always available to assist when she was there. Osvaldo was our concierge and we couldn't have been happier with his service, attitude and overall kindness. The pool service definitely goes to Leonardo superb service.
