The food was bland, cold and very little variation in the buffets. We had a steak in El Dorado and 3 of the party had the squits for many days after. The food in the buffets also gave us bad stomachs (one of our party witnessed one of the chefs dripping uncooked chicken over cooked meats...yuck....!) The best food was in Sumptuori and La Lola, so those are recommended, however the problem was a lack of consistency of the quality of the food.

Entertainment was shocking. They would advertise something and it would be a completely different show or no show at all. All of the shows were dance shows in the theatre, no variation here either. The entertainment in the lobby's and Hemingways was of a poor standard, they could not sing and they only knew one or two songs in English. We did see one male vocalist in the Palace lobby and he was very good. The standard of English spoken by the staff was very frustrating, you almost felt that they preferred to speak with the Spanish speaking guests.

The rooms are not maintained to a good standard and are a bit dated, could also do with cleaning under the bed. It took many days after the hurricane for the maid to clean our room, the balcony was out of use due to flooding. On one night the maid wanted to clean our room at 9.05pm! The mini bar wasn't replenished daily.

The grounds were well maintained however I did hear of guests having accidents and needing to go to hospital due to uneven flooring, also children needing antibiotics for ear infections. The shuttle service around the resort was very good also. The sports bar was very small compared to the Mexico one. Drinks were good throughout the resort but they tended to run out of premium drinks in the bars and had to make do with local ones.

I would pick the Mexican resorts over this one anyday!

Staff were not eager to help, kept disappearing from desk. Not allowed check in or use of facilities until 3:00. Bath was super high to step into and leaked all over bathroom. Nothing in our fridge. Had to contact five times to get beer and water. Place was super crowded. Like a beehive eating breakfast.

Honestly I’ve never been to a hotel where I would return simply because of the amazing staff employed here. From the restaurant staff, to the bar staff (especially pool and lobby), and all of the animation team (the day staff are incredible). They make you feel so welcome and do everything in their power to make sure you have an amazing holiday. Absolutely brilliant and I can’t wait to return.

We went as a family of four in August. From the moment we set foot on the resort we were accosted by hotel staff selling us everything from timeshare (we were railroaded into attending a 3 hour 'presentation' by the hotel's 'Travel Club' representative -I ended up walking out!), excursions and 'souvenirs' sold on the resort by the hotel foyer, swimming pools and hotel walkways near the restaurants . This continued on a daily basis throughout the 14 days of our stay!! Everything was overpriced! Weekends were particularly busy in the buffets restaurants and swimming pools as the hotel was opened up to the locals with day/weekend passes. All four of us experienced severe stomach upsets despite being careful what we ate and drank. This occurred throughout our stay. Food left out in the open in the buffet restaurants regularly had flies on it (fruit, cold meats). Hot food such as rice was tepid at times. On a couple of occasions there was a strong smell of sewage outside the block we were staying in. Overall a disappointing experience but I hope the hotel take these comments on board to improve things for future guests.

We loved the attention and the warmness of the employees. Every body was helpful. From Jency in concierge sending my husband balloons and a cake for his birthday to our room, to Leudy finding my husband's phone in his cart and taking it to us quickly, and Francisco helping me get a Reservation in La Paisana. Some minor things need to be renewed or fixed in the rooms like a loose zoom mirror or some stained cushions. We will be back.
