My wife and I with our 3 teenagers stayed at the Uman Lodge for 4 nights during the last week of March 2017. I cannot tell you how utterly fantastic the Uman Lodge is. The rooms are incredible with some of the finest views and modern amenities I have ever enjoyed. The dining facilities, library/lounge and pool/spa areas shares equally fantastic views. The spa is new, modern and well furnished with a heated indoor and outdoor pool, whirlpool, gym, sauna, steam room and massage offerings. The food is fantastic starting with a large European style breakfast, lunch with both formal and informal offerings as well as dinner menu featuring a variety of fish, steak and other local specialties. One night we enjoyed a Chilean bbq which featured an entire lamb which has been roasted for hours within Uman's outdoor bbq pit. The staff is unbelievable. I would really like to thank our new friends, Gerardo and Angela. We drove in from Esquel Airport on the Argentina side and were met by Angela at the border who assisted getting us across the Argentina and Chilean border areas. The attention never stopped. Angela guided us through the Uman Lodge farm (the farm provides the lodge most of the vegetables, fruits and meats representing everything from homemade jams, fresh juices and fresh salads!), picked us up on the river bed when our rafting was completed amongst a number of other kind favors. Angela's husband, Gerardo, went as far as providing my family personal fishing gear which we utilized during a day of fly fishing. Speaking of some of the best fly fishing in the world, we also rafted for 2 days. We are seasoned whitewater rafters and have done some of the finest fivers in the world including the Colorado and the Pacuare. Without question, for a 1 day experience the Futaleufu is the best river I have ever rafted. My hat goes off to Patagonia Elements as well as David and Christian, our wonderful river guides.
I could go on and on about Uman. I have stayed in some of the finest places in the world including 2 notable 5 star facilities in Buenos Aires and the Mendoza region during my recent visit. I knew far less about Uman than the other more recognized properties before my recent visit. Looking back, I enjoyed Uman more deeply than the rest. The facility, food, excursions and its' people make it a diamond. Take the 2.5 hour drive from Esquel and you will find a little slice of heaven.
