We were camping locally and twice visited here on a Fri & Sat afternoon to get much needed free wi-fi. The outdoor space is very relaxing, the wi-fi fast & the service friendly & efficient. Drinks quite expensive but food affordable. We ate tea here once and it was really good. The pizza menu is really original, some fun mixtures & local ingredients used. I had the Cumbrian Meat Feast Pizza - highly recommended!

We visited whilst a relative of mine was staying in the hotel.

At least this part of the business, was doing well when we went in. Service was quick and efficient, trying some local beers.

We ordered food, opting for fish and chips, and pizza. Food arrived quickly, although no cutlery or condiments were brought? We realised you have to get that for yourself.

Food was really good. Had no idea they did pizza, as it is not mentioned anywhere. One of the best I have had anywhere in the area. Apparently you can get take-away as well, but guess they don't advertise this for some reason? You would think they would make more of this, as the younger audience love their pizzas?

I am surprised the bar does not make more of the mountain heritage, as lots of walkers were in. Not really sure what the theme is, and one criticism is that it was incredibly loud. It's a very echoey, hard surface and noisy, that forces everyone to shout at each other. That meant we did not stay long, as far from relaxing for a pint and a chat.

Quite a few things we as a party of 5 had when we decided to have tea here on Saturday evening.

1. Got told by bar to find seat and order at bar. We found a table at which point told it is table service. We queried and basically got told with attitude well she is the boss (lady at bar) so do what she says. Went to bar to be told to go back and they will take our order as unbeknown to us we were in the table service restaurant as opposed to the bar area (the door to state this had been left open so no sign visable).

2. Order drinks. One of our party wanted a bottle of becks when this arrived it was alcohol free so was asked to change to what she asked for the attitude to this request wasnt brilliant and we were made to feel an inconvenience for their mistake.

3. We ordered 5 meals at same time as drinks. 4 meals arrived (they looked lovely and they did taste really nice - no fault at all with the food except the soggy pizza as below) yet 1 meal was still to come (this was a pizza and some onion rings). We waited a few minutes before chasing. Upon chasing the reply was its still in oven and will be one minute (at this point the other four members of our party were at least part way through their meal). Another 5-10 minutes later pizza arrives with an apology yet no onion rings. When asked they thought i said mushrooms and pointed to them on the pizza we said onion rings again and he went to find out. Another 5-10 minutes later they arrived with another sorry. At this point everyone had finished and my pizza obviously rush cooked was very soggy.

We complained about the service and the fact that a meal had been totally forgotten about. The response considering this is a restaurant/bar attached to a hotel was the stupidiest excuse ever - we are a busy restaurant and it is hard to make sure meals go out at the same time so we always try to bring whenever they are ready followed by another sorry whilst waving their hands and walking off.

I'm sorry but every restaurant gets busy yet meals are brought out together. Problems get mentioned. I feel that this restaurant employs quite a few staff who unfortunately english isnt their first language and they struggle to comprehend complaints and their customer service during a complaint isn't there.

This may just be a one off but unfortunately has ensured that no further business from ourselves.

Food nice (those that got it on time). Customer service absolutely terrible.
