I was somewhat disappointed to read the reviews here as they relate to the condition of the Lighthouse. As a teenager in the mid 1960's I was very familiar with the lighthouse and its history. One of my best mates was the son of the then "Lighthouse Keeper". On many occasions we used to go over the isthmus and play around the light and indeed go up into the area where the light and glass lantern were still intact. It has almost certainly gone now, but behind the Keeper's house was a garage like structure called the "Rocket Shed". Inside was all the equipment required to conduct rescue operations should a vessel founder on the Headland......... thank heavens for memories.

The walk to the lighthouse is quite steep, and took around 10-15 minutes to get to the top. The views of the surrounding coastline were great, but the lighthouse itself was a bit of a disappointment.

We recently completed this walk, it was a bit wet as it had rained earlier in the morning and there was a few places with ankle deep water. Lovely walk with a few look out points, you can also walk along the rocks when returning to the car.

I stayed at the close by park just prior to the Christmas rush (departed Christmas Eve). The family and I did the walk to the light house one afternoon. The walk was nice enough and the walk up and down the track was easy enough, may be harder for people that require assistance as it does get steep in parts and some of the step up points are a little tall. There had been rain the day before and part of the track was under water, the track is also dirt (thus mud due to the rain). The light house itself is not the traditional light house but more the old light house site, the site is closed and a little run down, if work was put into it and a viewing platform installed at the site I could see it being a better attraction. That said, there are timber viewing points at two locations closer to the cliff face.
