After spending a wonderful day at Disneyland/California Adventure, Knott’s Berry Farm was truly a disappointment. While the themes around the park and aesthetics are fun, there’s a lot to be desired.

A few things to note…

1. The food lines were insanely long all over the park. They seemed to take about 45 minutes and it was hard to find a quick snack like a pretzel. Some of the food kiosks weren’t open so that didn’t help. I wish they used mobile ordering like Disney to alleviate the long lines.

2. The ride lines were very long. Roller coasters were 150 minutes and other rides took much longer than advertised on the app. For example, the app said the Supreme Scream ride had a wait time of 25 minutes and I waited a solid hour for a ride that lasted about a minute.

3. Some rides weren’t even operating. We were waiting in line for the Knott’s Bear-y Tales and the ride broke. They weren’t sure how long it would take to fix it but refused to give us a pass to come back later. 45 minutes later they said it would be “awhile” and offered to send us to another ride with no wait. I’m not sure why they didn’t offer it much sooner into the extra wait. When we left a few hours later, the ride was still down.

4. The cleanliness just isn’t up to par. The bathrooms were dirty and the floors had trash on them. There was also trash on the ground around the park.

Tip: If you’re heading there in the summer, you essentially need to spend the extra money on the fast pass if you want to go on most of the rides while you’re there.

Big coasters are down for maintenance. I get that one big one might be down, but 4??? Other rides are running at half capacity. Food vendors not open. Lines are crazy long. Been a long time year pass holder and this is really lame. Leaving and going to the beach!

Ghost rider is a thrilling ride that is easy on the stomach drops. But when you ride the Silver Bullet you will feel like you conquered the butterfly jitters. Since you're feeling icey, the Xcelerator tests all boundaries of gravity. However, the Pony Express will pleasantly surprise your adrenaline meter.

Knott's is crowded. Lines are long from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Every line ranges from 45 minutes to 2 hours. Food lines 45 minutes to 1.5 hours.  We were a group of 10 and traveled on a Monday.

Knott's is not an overwhelming theme park. There is more happening than just rides. You can ride a horse buggy, relax on a train, watch a show, dance to a live band or just chillax.

Your group can split up and all meet within 20 minutes from one end of the park to the other.  Every age group can have their own adventure and fun-filled day. Seriously from age 3 to 100. If someone has limited standing abilities, take a portable chair. On a crowded day, seating is limited. Otherwise shade and seating is accessible.

If you want to make your day crackin' here are 8.5 Sure-Fire Tips to Get Bang for Your Time:

1) Everybody can't be a chief. Decide that all can be done. It's easier with a group of 6+. Just don't be a hog even if it's only

2) If anyone in the group has a temporary or permanent disability (e.g. leg brace, wheelchair etc.) disabled fast pass is complimentary. What is way cool is that four other riders can fast pass. There are some caveats, but minor.

3).Best food to NOT waste your money: Chili/Soups at the soup station ($7.00) or Fiesta Village Cantina chipotle salad ($13.00) Everything else is garbage.

4) Best order of rides to NOT waste your time- Silver Bullet, Sidewinder, Supreme Scream, Xcelerator, Pony Express, Ghostrider then others. Long lines for all. However, the lasting thrill effect ratio to wait time worthiness to next thrill anticipation is this order.

5) Bring in your own water refill canteen! Or pay five bucks for freakin' water that should be free.

6) Chipotle salad can accommodate a keto, vegan, vegetarian, weight-watchers or hangriness prevention. The chipotle dressing, surprisingly impressive.

7) Park in the lot on Beach and La Palma. Trust this!

8) Keep nuts and protein bars in your bag because you don't have time to be hungry and irritable in the lines. You only have time to play.

8.5) Positive attitude allowed only. No one likes to wait in hot weather. No one wants to hear it. So be creative or silent.

I'd like to know if these tips helped you.

More expensive than tickets purchased via Knott’s themselves but with very good for last-minute purchase! Tickets worked great and had no problem!
