Although a little inconvenient to travel to without a car, Lodge Moiwa provided us with excellent service which we are extremely grateful for. The staff really put in all their efforts into ensuring that we arrive to and leave the hostel with minimal inconvenience even if it meant extra work for them such as waking up extra early to meet our demands. Thank you very much!
The hostel was conveniently located at the Moiwa Ski Resort which was further away from the other bigger and touristy Niseko ski resorts. This made it much quieter and more comfortable to ski at. As first time skiers, this was definitely a plus as there was plenty of space for us to practise and fall without the fear of bumping into others or getting bumped into. The snow was also very fresh and unspoilt.
The combined factor of being further away from everything else and the snowy weather meant that we could only stay in the hostel after skiing ( the ski resort closes at around 4pm and there isn't night skiing available). We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food offered there. We ordered a pizza and spaghetti for dinner which tasted delicious. Unfortunately, we left too early in the morning to enjoy the breakfast that they had to offer.

We stayed in a group room with 2 bunk beds. The room was too small to properly fit our suitcases but as we only stayed for a night, this was fine. They gave us keys to lockers outside for storage of ski items which we didnt have anyway.
Each bed was like a capsule, with coloured bed lights. It had a very modern and clean feel to it. The soundproofness of the room wasn't great but it wasn't bothersome as we expected it to be like that at hostels. The shared bathroom facilities was very clean and offered the amenities needed. The vending machine offered hot and cold drinks at a really good price!
I would recommend Lodge Moiwa 834 especially if you want a quieter place to ski but do check with travel arrangements there well in advance if you are not driving. I believe there are shuttle bus services available but reservation is needed. Otherwise, there is a bus you can take from Niseko JR station but the journey can take over 30 minutes from there as it travels around other hotels in Niseko first. This was the method we used and somehow, the bus driver decided to skip the Moiwa Ski Resort area so if we hadn't informed the driver after he had passed the area (for then the driver turned the bus around as there were no other passengers on the bus), we would have totally missed our stop and gone back to the station.More
