So we paid extra for the deluxe room...which was supposed to be more spacious and have 2 queen beds and a microwave. The "extra room" was an area where the window wall was not flat but barely bowed. "Extra room". The beds were full sized. There was no microwave. The room smelled awful. The shower had no pressure. The first front desk person was rude and unhelpful. The one later who let us use her microwave was better. But a very nice hotel not right next to the fwy is not much more $. I would never stay here unless it was a quick stop on a long road trip and not for this price.

I know what you’re thinking, Motel 6 oh yucky. Actually this little gem was recently remodeled and is not the typical Motel 6. Located less than a mile from the beach on one of the villages main streets. The walk to the beach from the motel allows you to pass through all the shopping and restaurants. There’s a Denny’s in the parking lot for bacon in the morning or you can walk up the block like we did and enjoy something local. The room didn’t have carpet so no worry of creepy smells and the bed was comfy. AC worked as it should. We stayed on a Friday night so there was some noise and rowdiness outside as to be expected, but nothing over the top.

OK so you don't get shampoo or a hairdryer or chocolates on your pillow. But Motel 6 is clean, very attractive updated linens, and an absolute price bargain in this beach town. We were five blocks from the beach and found free ocean front parking readily every day and at almost every hour. Hotels in the same town can often run over $300 a night and this was well under 100. So if you're looking for a great place from which to access the beach and all the lovely restaurants in Carlsbad don't Poopoo this very adequate, clean, up-to-date Motel 6.

The room was fine for a Motel 6 and the location was good as was close to both the freeway, downtown Carlsbad, and the beaches. However on the night we stayed the price point was very high for a Motel 6. It was an early August Saturday night and there were very few vacancies anywhere and so we sucked it up and paid the $170 for this Motel 6 room which seemed somewhat outrageous. Front desk was a bit understaffed and so it took a long time to check in because there were 3 people in front of me and only one girl working. I spent 20 minutes waiting with my wife in the car. That was my only minor complaint other than the price.
