This is no longer a magical resort. We stayed as a family first in 2013, and fell in love. We looked forward to our second visit for Thanksgiving 2022. What a shock it was to arrive to our rooms. For over $1200/ night, one should expect more than frayed carpets, rattan chairs in taters, dirty seat cushions, scuffed up moldings, mattress covers that don't cover the mattresses, and drapes that are not properly hooked to the curtain rods, The resort is in major need of a refresh. The paint on the buildings was peeling. The doors in the public spaces were scuffed. I could go on and on.
Management did try to compensate for our disappointment. We did get new chairs (though strangely, they did not come with the proper seat cushions). We did get a resort credit, and a discount on one suite; however, this does not offset our feeling of sadness and regret that we made so much effort to select Carmel Valley Ranch as our families special thanksgiving destination.
I do hope that Hyatt does something to restore the Ranch's reputation and to justify the prices it charges to stay.More
