Description: Jake’s Del Mar brings new American cooking to the edge – to the water’s edge that is. Located right on the beach in Del Mar Chef Duvinh Ta uses fresh, seasonal products as the inspiration for updating classic preparations of fresh fish, shellfish and premium meats. The lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch menus showcase clean, eclectic flavors and local, sustainable products that are complemented by Jake’s jaw dropping location on the sand. The nightly Chef’s Special is a seasonal creation that features the best seafood, meats and produce available and through the Legacy of Aloha program, Jake’s donates a portion the proceeds from the Chef’s Special to the San Diego Food Bank.

The service at Jake's was over the top both times we dined with them. We wandered in on Taco Tuesday and Dustin took care of us with more genuine friendly service than I have seen in a very long time. The atmosphere is so warm, it begs you to stay longer too! The tacos did not disappoint and the margaritas were a hit!

Jakes is another regular stop whenever we get out to San Diego. The restaurant is located on the beach in Del Mar. Make sure to make reservations on any day as this place is popular. If you can swing the dinner to sunset time and request a lower level table by the windows. The atmosphere is great, casual but still very nice dinning and the food is outstanding. On this visit we had the crispy calamari, and beet salad as starters along with the Ahi and then a couple of seafood pots and a salmon. All the dishes were great and we all shared a piece of key lime cheesecake. All that and a great view of the sunset and beach. The cool thing is the beach it lite up at night so even after sunset you can watch all the activity on the beach. The restaurant is right next to a park and on many visits there have been concerts and other activities in the park. Parking is tight but available so enjoy.

First time here - recommended by friends and concierge. Extremely busy, loud with people packed in...but our table was in the corner and out of the way with a fabulous view of the beach / sunset. Nice menu and our server was very attentive...even took our picture. Our meals were excellent and glad we experienced.

While visiting Del Mar I decided to make reservations for Jakes and was told that they had valet parking.
When I arrived the parking lot was full and was told to park across from the beach for $20 for every 2 hours.
Why have a reservation if they can not accommodate you.
The best bet is too take a cab or parachute down to get in this joint.
Not worth the aggravation...PASS IF YOU CAN

Always a classic. We've been to Jake's Del Mar about 4 times now -- it's a fave for our anniversary, especially since they give you a slice of complimentary Hula Pie. It's upscale dining with a relaxed vibe, excellent food, good service, great cocktails and one of the best views in San Diego. Only downside is it's valet parking, but you might be able to find street parking if you're lucky. Take a stroll on the beach afterwards or wander up into the town of Del Mar.
